Has anyone in the UK or Australia been involved in an accident and found that their airbags failed to deploy in their MG4. Yesterday my Orange MG4 Long Range 77kWh car was t-boned just before exiting a round about and noticed that none of the air bags were deployed.
My accident to my car was a hit to my rear passenger door and I suspect their are no sensors there to trigger deployment. They might be in the B-pillar but not for the rear seats.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had an accident mate, hope everybody is alright.

I think airbags don’t always deploy as a default. there are certain thresholds to meet. Front airbags may not deploy even in frontal collisions depending on speeds and I assume deceleration. I’ve had an accident where a car cut across me and I t-boned them so to speak, and my airbags didn’t deploy (this was in a 2001 car though).

Not to say your idea of a lack of sensors is wrong, but I think it is also a consideration that deployed airbags come with a lot of added repair costs, and for relatively light shunts you might be pretty disappointed to have your airbags go off as well.

I’ve watched your video and noticed the airbags in the Ute also didn’t deploy. Wonder what that lady was doing, it’s not like our orange cars are hard to spot you’d think…

Ouch. That's not good. Hope everyone was ok.
Would you expect front airbags to deploy in a side impact? I don't know if the MG has rear curtain airbags. Thankfully, I've never been in a situation where airbags were needed (except on a bike and that didn't have them!)

There are curtain airbags but as said above, I suspect the there was insufficient force to trigger. The control unit retains impact data AFAIK so it could be checked out by MG.
Have to say I was impressed by how quickly the other driver jumped out of her car to see if you were OK.

Are you enjoying your MG4?
