MG4
2 weeks owning first EV, MG4SE. Mostly an agreeable experience. My previous cars were all ones that encouraged good driving skills, the best being a Mazda RX8. Bit older now so wanted a more relaxed driving experience, more suited to current and future driving conditions. Dont expect to have fun driving a mainstream EV and the 4 is no different. Bung a big heavy battery in and remove the noise and gears of an ICE transforms the drive. My experience with the 4 is it is a ridiculously easy to drive A-B cruiser. Comfortable, Spacious, good driving position, just the right performance and economy balance. You do feel quite a bit dissconected, no real feedback. Def not a point and squirt, apex hitting, country lane fun car! Not a critisism as thats not what I wanted. ONE BIG GRIPE……Leaving the so called driving aids in their default (by law) settings result in multiple bing bongs on my 15 mile commute. Very distracting. So far Ive not figured out how to reduce the 8 button presses needed to turn all but the collision assist off. The shortcut buttons dont seem to help. Health and Safety Executive 1, Drivers who do know how to drive 0. I do hope MG can update software and get a shortcut direct into the MG Pilot at least. Overall though a cracking car at a decent price.

Red Dwarf. To the forum. 🙂👍

To be honest, since getting the (then) latest updates nearly a year ago, including SC077 for the lane assist, I don't turn anything off. I have all the "assists" set to their lowest/mildest settings (which is remembered) and that's it.

Occasionally I'll turn off the LKA sound - press the Home button (if I've got the Android Auto screen up), press the car icon (the page defaults to MG Pilot) then press the Sound slider at the bottom of the visible screen); 2 (max 3) easy taps.

The electric power steering does feel a bit disconnected in ECO mode but less so in Normal and better in sport.

It just flashes the speed limit sign doesn't it? Or does yours make a sound?

...Not that I would know of course.
The EU requires vehicles registered after 7/2024 to actually make sounds (at least that's the rule in Germany) and you have to always disable it because the car doesn't remember it or isn't allowed to remember it - Thank god I have a 2023 one

Ones manufactured after July 2024 make loud sound NAMBY PAMBY EU REGULATION. I have to turn all assists except collision assist to get some peace and be able to concentrate on driving. EU getting to much like China, wanting to control your actions.
