Hi taking my first long drive tomorrow Edinburgh to Fraserburgh. Temp around 6c. Am I likely to make it on the one full charge. Total journey is 180 miles. Planning to go eco and sit at 60 to 65bmph.

Sorry forgot to mention LR 64kw.
Even in the LR64 you'll have to be as light as possible with the right foot if you're going to do 180 miles, it can be done, but you'll be constantly checking your mileage/consumption stats all the way.

Good luck. 🎅

That doesn't sound like much fun, to me.

I think the temperature tomorrow will be a little colder than last week, so efficiency may well be impacted more. But if @johnturn is going to stick to 60/65 then that'll help ... drag follows (to an extent) an inverse square law - halve the speed and drag will be 4 times lower.

Is that not what ICE driver's are always harping on about, EVs. Things like,
checking the weather, hoping it's mild. Drive in ECO, don't go above 60/65mph. Constantly keep checking your consumption/milage stats. etc etc.
Each to their own, but I couldn't be bothered with that. Isn't it better to have a quick 20min/half hour stop. Then you could drive it, as would any car, not constantly worrying. Would a quick stop, be such a big deal. 🙂👍

I did 60 miles somewhere and 60 back, started at 75% ended at about 10, I drove fairly safely though and that was similar temps, maybe slightly warmer so I would say you won’t make it all. I would try to find a cheap charger midway and top it up 10-20% at least.

There are even a couple of free charge place Scotland chargers en route, only 22kw but if you stopped for a coffee and a snack they would give you enough to get rid of any anxiety, let you drive at the speed limit.
They are at the cafe at Stracathro hospital and a farm shop just outside Laurencekirk.
Need a charge place Scotland card or electroverse

Which means 7kW (6.6kW actually) as I doubt that a) the OP has a 3-phase Type 2 cable, or b) their car has a 3-phase onboard charger. :) So a 1 hour stop will add 6.6kWh at best.

Better than nothing, especially for free, but won't give much of a comfort blanket feeling. :)

Will get home there with a buffer to spare though, as I think the car would make it without stopping.

Only mention it as I knew they were free
