Just something for the swarm intelligence: when driving off to work yesterday morning I immediately noticed a strange sound. After only some two meters of driving I stopped. Flat tyre, completely. Reversed on the wheel, back on the driveway. A puncture from a screw, reparable. So far no drama.
What strikes me is that the whole tyre pressure alarm system did not react at all. No sound, no light, nothing. From that very system that starts complaining if pressure falls from 37 PSI to 36.8.
Is this a case for a garage or considered "normal"? If so, that warning system is completely useless.
Thanks everybody for your thoughts,
Holger

I think the sensors also transmit on large pressure charges. But of course if the car systems aren't switched on to receive that signal at the time...

When one of my tyres took in a screw a few months ago, I immediately got a tpms warning, turned round, drove back home and repaired the offending puncture with a screw in plug, 10 min job at most and thanks to the tpms I didn't get stranded, so now carry a portable compressor and repair kit in the car permanently.

Think that you have to drive for a bit for the TPMS to sense the current pressures.
Now what sense does that make😄 I fear you are right, but this leads the whole monitoring system ad absurdum. By the time the sensor starts I have already noticed myself. Welcome to the 21st century.

Yeah me too. Mine was a lovely gift on the way from London to Manchester ;-(
