Handfree closing tailgate

This also happens on my MGS5 brand new last week - kick to open fine, kick to close 2 beeps then nothing, have to use the tailgate button which is also too high for my 5ft tall wife to reach. Key fob or on the infotainment for her

You can set the “opening” height to be lower than the factory default of “fully open” if that helps your wife, if she is a regular user .
This is fine of course, as long as you are not tall of course, when you could end up banging your head on the tail gate itself .

I noticed that opening and closing the tailgate using the infotainment system automatically adjusts the height to LOW, so please be careful if you use this system NOT TO OPEN THINKING ITS GOING TO OPEN TO FULL HEIGHT.

I think this is set in the menu?

My Trophy also has this issue, kick to open fine, kick to close two beeps as if it will close then doesn’t. Have to press the button.

Hi, surely the using the kicking action to open the tailgate is to assist when you have your hands full. Once you have loaded the items into the boot then your hands are free to close the hatch with the button or remote, and the need to kick isn’t required.

Unless you are lifting something heavy out of the boot that requires both hands I guess.
