Hazards flashing when braking

I noticed something today I have not seen before, I noticed in the reflection of the car in front of me, that when I braked to stop at lights my front hazards/indicators flashed. Is this normal?
No indication on internal displays

I just noticed other threads on this after I posted so it seems to be normal, I wasn’t breaking hard or driving particularly fast, so still a little strange

Some cars refuse to move again for about 30 seconds after what they consider a harsh or emergency stop. That has to be the most stupid idea ever - leaving you stranded in the middle of the highway with car zipping by on both sides. Sometimes I wonder if the NCAP people and our lawmakers have a functional brain cell between them.

If it's a quick few flashes it is most likely the warning given to cars coming up on you. I found this system quite sensitive, often triggering when cars where just coming past in the lane next to me, so I ended up turning it off. You can also see it going off on the wing mirror indicators if you want to see if it's happening more often.

That part of the mirror indicator I ended up painting over in black as I found it a distraction when at night, especially indicating when coming on to a motorway from the slip road as its in very close proximity to the blind spot indicator on the edge of the mirror.
It has caught me out a few times, I thought a car was close when in fact it was just the indicator. Now I know if I see an orange flash, there’s definitely something there

And yes, the hazards thing is a bit sensitive

Ah! That explains why I see this too, I thought I had a fault when I saw my indicators on in reflection of car in front

I had it this morning... ACC was slowing my car down as the ones in front were braking and I saw my hazards were rapidly flashing in reflection on the car in front. I'd like to turn this 'feature' off but don't know what setting?
(The flashing is of no benefit to me and the car in front could easily think I was telling them something was wrong with their car).

Doubt you'll be able to turn it off, most cars now light up the indicators once the braking is harsh.

I was able to turn this off. From memory it’s part of the MG pilot settings, it’s called something along the lines of “rear collision warning”. I’ll have a look next time I’m in the car. It is a setting that is remembered, so I don’t have to turn it off every time I get into the car.
