HELP !! charging cable incredibly stiff to release or the charge detector is not going off when I am not charging

so got car 2 days ago initial gremlins.
so 1st day charged it this worked but I could not get the charger cable to release - eventually it did but no biggie.
so 2nd day set up to charge and it has not charged - not sure cable was fully in or something however cable was locked in just spent about 1/2 an hour pulling at manual release etc. but on the display it had a red charger cable picture. I had paused charging on the ohme home pro app but not sure how you clear the red charger cable light from the screen to get the cable to release. Or as had been suggested on some other forums I have to spray some WD40 on the contacts etc. or some other silicone spray (not sure exactly).

Thats a nightmare after 2 attempts of plugging in 1 worked but did not release cable 2nd won't release the cable

The charge cable should release when you unlock the car doors - but even if you open a door and leave the car unlocked, the charge cable will be locked in again within 15-20 seconds or so.

Some form of electrical lubricant (Electrolube) or even WD40/silicon spray should help if it is unlocking but just stiff in the socket.

I don't know but does the manual release, only release the charging port flap, rather than the releasing the cable?

I don't think the fact that it is charging prevents the cable from releasing.

Are you using an untethered cable?
The manual is very specific about the order in which you unlock/lock the car, and connect the cable at either end then start the charging process. Do any of these in the wrong order and the whole process will fail. Likewise the switch off, disconnect process.
I've had a locked in cable, a cable that wouldn't release and a charging session at 0.00 kWh!
in each case I want back to the manual and started the process again with a locked car and it worked fine.
After the fifth charging session the routine is firmly embedded.

seems to be turn off engine.
Open flap and plug in cable.
Lock doors.
Think yesterday's problem was possibly because I plugged it in and then needed to get in the boot ?
But still struggling with getting cable to release.
Ive sussed out how to ensure it is not locked in - but I believe the issue has been new cable and new connector - I've WD40'd it which seemed to free it up a bit better, so possibly just a stiff connection - I just did not want to pull too hard and think I could break the port completely on the car or something.

Charger is ohme home pro btw, with tethered cable.

so defo seems like it is a slightly stiff connection between the ohme home pro charger tethered cable and the car charging port. Does anyone put any form of grease or something on these to make it slightly easier to connect and disconnect ?
IT may just get easier over time, but is still quite stiff at present to remove - was just concerned if it was so hard to disconnect cable after unlocking car if I was going to damage the charging port but hoping it frees up with time unless anyone can suggest a suitable lubricant to help free / loosen it a little until it has been used more ?

Personally, I use and recommend Electrolube contact cleaner/lubricant.

Aerofurb on the electrolube is it the contact grease in syringe you use, or the contact cleaner in an aerosol ?

The stuff I always use is the aerosol Electrolube 'Contact Cleaner Lubricant'.

Yep, similar issues, to make sure charging starts when I want it I have to lock the car, very infuriatingly intermittent if left unlocked. I'm in wales so no need for lubricant it's always raining

just had my Rolec charger serviced and the electrician spayed it up with silicone, very smooth now.

Oh dear, having preached the word according to the manual last week I tripped over it myself this week.
I put the car on charge, then ten minutes later realised that I had left my phone in the car. Having retrieved my phone I didn't go through the disconnect/reconnect process so the charging didn't restart.
Result, four hours later, only 9 miles added to the range
