How is it possible for rescue staff to get in to the car in case of an emergency?

Thank you, that was my question. And I guess that our MG4 complies with those regulations. What made me thinking is the discussion of cars with handles which fold shut. Not a problem for us I guess.

By default the doors are locked from entry from outside.

They will just put the windows in if it's an emergency

The problem is, emergency services take time to arrive on scene.

First on scene (more than likely) is another motorist, who sees people trapped inside, and try to get the doors open, and out of respect, won't think of smashing someone else's car. Panic starts to kick in (pardon the pun)

Carry a glass hammer/seatbelt cutter in your car, obviously no good if you get knocked out

I hate that I don't have the ability to disable the automatic central locking on the SE. It's a bug in the software, but not enough people have made a fuss about it for them to fix it. I know of a case where two children nearly died because of that feature (not in an MG4), if it hadn't been for a passer-by who had a golf club in his car. It gives me the screaming ab-dabs.

Must admit never really given it that much thought, still an interesting discussion topic full of "what if " scenarios. Could open a real full can of worms ? ......... so to speak. o_O

Agree. Funnily enough, we are having this discussion on another forum. Which prompted me to order a Life Hammer. Not only to get yourself and others out of your own car, in the event of a crash. But also if your first on the scene of a crash, and someone is trapped. Almost certainly would never be needed. But you just never know. 🙂👍

I carry one of these but I wonder if it’s really needed. I say that because as a sort of joke ?? I jabbed my “pointed knuckle” fist at a car rear window once and it shattered into a million bits. It cost a few quid and some embarrassment but had there been a panic I could have extracted the occupants swiftly with tiny glass bits pervading every garment they were wearing 🤪

Yep, s'pose freak stuff like that does happen. But more often than not, it wouldn't. At least when the Amulance came to the crash, they could look at your broken knuckle. 😉🙂👍
