Is there an OBD thing for this car?

Recent mileages indicate the battery capacity is low, maybe 80 miles per charge....

If I can check it, I can see if the battery warranty will kick in...

I use this with my MG5 and car scanner.
Do you charge it to 100% monthly and leave it to do a battery balance?

Thanks for that...

Yes I normally balance the battery every couple of weeks or so.

This run yesterday, some 300 miles from Norfolk to Wales was after several days of rapid charges.

The car is 4 1/2 years old with some 46500 miles on it, and these low mileage runs were on motorways...

The trip you did was presumably on as much motorway or dual-carriageway as possible - the worst type of trip for an ev! You don't give much info, but starting with 100% charge, say 150 miles max, so you rapid charge at about 130 miles, gives you a max of about 125, so following two rapid charges at 100 miles should get you there.
That's what I would try in my similar car, so 3 charges en-route.
However, that means no heat, no blower, and about 60 miles an hour max, and not too much weight on board. Any change to those items could easily lead to 80 miles per charge. As a backstop calculation, I know I can only just do a 65 mile return trip on a full (ie 7kw till full) charge, getting home with about a 15 mile left.

Hello, I'm foksie and new here and I have a question about checking battery's health, I bought a 2nd hand ZS EV luxury mk 2019-21 with 82.000km and I like to know the battery's health, how can I check that? Thnks in advance.

Without an ODB adapter, there's a rudimentary calculation that can be done.

Plug the car into your home charge point and fully charge - allowing it time to do a full balance charge. Once completed, switch the car on and reset the trip odometer to zero. Make sure the heating and AC/fan is switched off and the mode is set to Normal (not Economy or Sport). Once the trip meter is reset it will show you a value for range.

Divide that number by 164 and multiply by 100.

My 5 year old Mk1 ZS has a range of 150, meaning my battery state of health is 91.5%

As AussiePete said, but make sure that any heating / AC / fan is also turned off.
Both trip odometers need to be reset to zero, so the long term and recent trip odometers.

2020 MG ZS Mk1.

Just had my 5th annual service and MOT. Passed with flying colours.

A bit of corrosion underneath, brakes all good, though worn a bit.

Battery says 97%......much higher than I expected, and would not conform to the calculation above...

The decision now is whether I keep the car, or move it on. It is at its best value now.

Do I keep a perfectly good car, though getting a bit of age to it, or trade it in for a 2/3 year old car with better range etc....

That will give me something to think about on the next moth or two...:)

I've just had my 5th annual service & MOT today - 2020 Mk1 ZS EV 47k miles. Failed MOT on front brakes (I've already had the back ones done).

Wish I had the foresight to do them before MOT and the resulting bill.

I'm looking at the S5 as there are some excellent deals out there on the LR for just over £21k
