No idea tbh, maybe mine doesn’t like being driven fast . Or just bad programming like the car always reverting to recirc rather than external as set after using windscreen clear setting

I do ... and I find it works fine. I don't get steamed up windows. I just set my HVAC to 21°C AUTO and let the car work it out.

I too just leave it set to 21C Auto and it works perfectly for me all year round. I occasional nudge it up or down 1 degree with the right hand joystick, but very rarely. I’ve never had a car where the cabin heating works so well.
This is in my 74 reg Trophy and since the software upgrades I had early last year.

I also use the recirculation function in Auto mode. What has always puzzled me, though: Before I got the MG4, I did some research on the additional features. Allegedly, the MG4 is supposed to have an intelligent recirculation function. That is, when driving through tunnels, following “stinky” trucks, or using the windshield wipers, the recirculation should adjust automatically. Unfortunately, in all three cases, I’ve always had to adjust it to recirculation manually. But for me, that’s not a big deal — I haven’t experienced it any differently in my previous cars either.

It has improved for sure. But it isn't what I used to have. In my previous car I could do recirc at 18C with a normal ventilator speed during the winter. No fogging up at all. The MG4 is nowhere, particularly when it's below 0C outside.
Reasons: no airflow to the rear windows, small side window oriented vents, lack of power of A/C unit to humidify.

You can try and solve this with fresh outside air in winter because when heated the humidity will drop a lot. But then the A/C struggles with keeping the T up...

Perhaps it depends on where you live. I’m in the uk and leaving it on auto I have very few problems with fogging up. I occasionally use the front and rear window demist functions, if necessary, with the physical buttons.

Mines always fogging up, and always on auto. Especially when all the kids are in.

Maybe that's another factor re. perspective ... there's usually only me in the car, occasionally 1 other, rarely more than that.

Good point. There’s normally only 2 of us in the car. We sometimes have the grandkids as well but perhaps that hasn’t coincided with adverse conditions

I'm pretty much on my own in the car. Nevertheless...
