I hate my MG4

Before my mg4, I'd never driven an EV , I was not able to test drive one either ( I need adaptions to any car to drive it) but I would say it's the best car I've had. My old Fabia vRS had awful throttle lag, a reoccurring battery drain issue and an always present whirring noise in the cabin. the plastics were easily scratched and ugly, as was the seat fabric.

The mg4 is better in every way conceivable, it's vastly cheaper to run even with my limited mileage, is comfortable and easy to drive and has enough poke throw you back in your seat should you wish.

I've been getting around 230 per full charge (trophy long range) and that'll cost me around £10.

As has been stated before, lemons of any brand exist ( my vRS is one such car I feel)
But as long as you keep in mind it's a budget car and don't compare it to a higher end brand like BMW, it honestly isn't bad value for money.
Unless it's a BMW from Cyprus they are terrible 😉

One of my very few gripes about ours is that the door cards seem to scratch easily.

In fact, the passenger side was already lightly marked on delivery. I would have mentioned it, but Mrs S said it wasn't worth it.

We had a naughty beagle in the back of our car a while back.

Got left on its own and apparently freaked out.

Left loads of scratches all over the inside of the back door (under the window).

Certainly left a mark. Chewed my baseball cap peak as well.

Surely this thread has run it's course.

Time to shut it down ?

These cars have NOTGHING to do with Rover/MG. China bought the company for the badge to dodge EU import laws and that's as far as it goes

So pulling out on to a bypass and then the car refusing to go faster than 1 mph with cars approaching at 60mph is not dangerous?

The LKA turning me into head on collisions with oncoming traffic is not dangerous?

The emergency brakes activating for no reason is also not dangerous!!

To get rid of the car now it would cost me over £15k!!, to keep it for another miserable year will cost me £3k!
So no i dont have a spare £13k to flush down the toilet but i do have 1 more year to turn as many people away from MG as i possible can.
Almost all ADAS isn’t fit for purpose by any manufacturer. They have been forced to adopt technology before it’s ready. MG is no different.

VAG group ADAS is,or was in my experience, a complete disaster too. I had an ID.3 and then a Cupra Born; both were terrible for erroneous emergency breaking and steering wheel yanking line assist. The Born was frighteningly bad; it would do something wrong at least once a week. The ID.3 wasn’t as bad but it didn’t have as many sensors.

This stuff is being mandated on all cars not just EV’s. Although I sympathise, you are being hysterical. My Cupra was a bloody great lemon, for all sorts of reasons, but it was a lemon and I accepted that. I didn’t camp out in the Cupra forum slagging the car off to all and sundry . I got unlucky with the car and even more so with the dealership.

It all sounds a bit suspect, your car won’t go over 1mph while you are joining a bypass?

On top of that you are saying the GFV of your value of your car is out by £12000? All a bit fishy!

I dont care what you think. You were not in my car when it was -6C, it had 30% battery and behaved like it was on 0% in power saving mode to crawl to a charger and then refused to go over 1mph as i pulled out.
I never once said this is how it performed all the time!!!

What also seems fishy about this site is a bunch of MG fanboys OR EMPLOYEES doubting everything bad anyone says about these cheap nasty Chinese piles of crap and singing the praises of Communist SAIC!.

And i dont camp on here, as i also said earlier, i want as many people to know that MG's are piss poor cars, they are unreliable and they dont live up to a single claim.

I also dont think there is anything wrong with being put of EV's because of a completely miserable experience.
Its like being bitten by a dog, sometimes it put people off for life.

But seeing as the EU is now backing now on the petrol ban it looks like i will be able to move to sustainable fuel and go back to having a vehicle that is fit for purpose all year round and goes a long distance between very quick fill ups.

Well good luck with that then. You haven’t read much of the forum if you think all we do is sing praises. Hopefully you’ll never have any problems with your petrol car or you’ll be forced to stop driving all of those too presumably!

To be honest your opinion isn’t worth anything as you’re more interested in insulting than fixing, or constructive feedback. I don’t like my MG4 that much, and as a result will probably take a £2000 hit next year to end my lease early. Yet, the car isn’t a total shambles, and you’re doing yourself no favours by acting like this.

Mate I have backed you up on various things you've said and I've been as critical as anyone on here about MG, the wife's has been a huge pain in the preverbial, I am glad I don't have one. I run a Born and it has been hassle free motoring for 2 1/2 years.
You are describing known faults your dealer should be able to fix but a lot of dealers are crap.

However you are going off on tangent's, you spoke about other EVs that you have access to, that work as they should but then slag off all EVs as being unsuitable, which is it?

The whole communist party stuff is nonsense.
You are however right re one particular fan boy, but trust me the majority of the members know who it is and probably agree.

This is a really good and helpful forum (for the most part) but periodically dropping in here and kicking off accomplishes nothing and just pisses folk off

Well, I'm neither a fanboy nor am I an employee.

We have one on a three year lease. It's a 23 plate Trophy LR, and the lease is up towards the end of this coming July. It's done around 25K.

Had the usual gripes with the steering wheel wrenchy wrenchy beepy beepy thing, but that went away with the software update.

The heating goes cold even though the temperature is set to a constant figure.

Some plastics scratch easily. This is true of other cars too.

There are no lights in the rear of the cabin.

The service department don't seem terribly interested in how your year has gone with the car when you take it in (other dealers have asked me how the car has been and whether there are any issues I want to let them know about). This may be unique to my particular dealer.

The paint seems soft, however having said that, we have only accrued 2 chips so far. By comparison, our previous car had many many more, but it had covered 176K by the time we sold it.

One of the lugs broke on the parcel shelf, but was easily fixed with super glue and sodium bicarbonate.

So, we have had a few issues with our MG4, but nothing major.

I realise in the car industry there are what I used to call in the 70s Friday afternoon or Monday morning cars and maybe you have one of these.

But, as it is a lease car, have you been back to the company to reject it (early on)?

Have you been to the dealer to get issues looked into?

Did you take your pills this morning? 💊 💊 💊

You have a sample of 1 MG4. You cannot make any serious claim about other MG4s, let alone other MG, with that size sample. You are ranting and it shows.

Try and have a lie down, it may help.

it looks like i will be able to move to sustainable fuel
The only sustainable fuels are hydrogen (unavailable, costs a packet) or synthetic e-fuels (unavailable, will cost even more of a packet).

Your comments are all over the place, mate, which makes it very hard to take you seriously.
