Having a nightmare with this, I have on my Wifes phone but cant get on my phone. Do everything on wifes phone but when open on mine cant get the past the Bind my Vehicle Screen. What am i doing wrong.

You can only bind the vehicle to one account at a time, but that account (let's call it the owner) can then give out a "key" to another account, so they can also control the car.

So you should log in with your own account on your phone, and your wife can then give you permissions.

Can I have the app on two phones? Mine and my wife's?
After downloading the app on the second phone I am asked for a phone number. At this step should I enter the number of the first phone or this phone (different phone)?
I understand the owner possibly needs to be only one (though shared ownership is a real and common possibility) but operators for things such as monitoring car activity, charging, etc, could be either of us - that's what we would like

Are you logging in to iSmart on your phone using the same login details as used on your wife's phone? If yes then there shouldn't be any binding requirement at all - it should simply work (whilst logging out the login to iSmart from your wife's phone; you can only be logged into the same account on one device at a time).

If not (and you have a separate account for iSmart on your phone) then follow the advice above.

I see that iSmart use can be very confusing.
My new, ex-demo MG4ER was delivered last week and I have the app on my phone, but when I try to 'Bind' the car - using the email and password I registered with on the app - all I get is "Network not available. Please try again later." This for four days, at various times of the day. Car has 'paired' with my phone and connected with my home network. Any idea what I can try next?

There's an option in the apps settings to add secondary accounts. You can set them up as family or guests. I have the app on two phones but I just log in on whichever one I'm using and don't bother with a second account.
I only had to bind on the first phone as well, it's not needed on the second one.

.. something that still sometimes trips people up; the car is bound to an account, not a device.

@Gismo, are you getting weather and travel updates? Or, if you connect to the car's hotspot can you access the internet via that hotspot?

The car has an eSim so should connect if the mobile signal strength is ok.

I do not know if you connect the car to your home WiFi whether you can complete the bind process via that route but you can try it.

Likewise, I do not know if the bind process depends on the car not having used up its monthly allowance (said to be 1Gb). As it is near the end of the month it may be a reason for the network not to be seen. Hence my question about weather and travel info which require the monthly allowance, as far as I know.

Yes, I'm getting weather updates, guess that I'll have to wait until Sunday to see if the new month has any effect (wrt 1Gb limit - maybe the limit was reached during its use as a demonstrator?). Not tried using the car as a 'hotspot yet.
By the way, the keyboard seems to have changed to the German(?) version - looking at the characters available and text on the 'Enter' key. Weird as I don't know how I could have changed it.

Tried connecting to the car hotspot - says 'no internet access'. Guess I'll leave it until Sunday, then try it all again

I've had a reply from MG Customer Care recommending that I contact [email protected], so I'll try them after the weekend if nothing else works.

Has anybody had success getting the app to work in not supported geographies? Spoofing location or something.

On my phone iSmart won't start if it detects a VPN running.
