"I'm in a bit of a fix at the moment"

(y)

Here's my thought...

IMHO, "Potentially" is not "no", hence it must be taken as being "yes" in the context of your question.

The way I would best extrapolate that ambiguous response is that the warranty "may have been compromised depending on the nature of the fault that is subject to the warranty but that is something that we would address down the line if/when a fault arises".
Wouldn't be like MG to try and kick the can down the road a bit

Thank you everyone for your valued input. Some great advice and suggestions on here and hopefully it will forewarn others of how it can go wrong despite best efforts.
Whilst some people may think I'm blowing this up out of all proportion - "the garage have told me it's ok" I only get to find out when something has gone wrong. Knowing my luck, next year there will be a major failure, the garage will be closed and MG saying no to the claim - thats my fear. The fact that MG refuse to say my warranty is still valid concerns me further and I have to see it through to either of my acceptable remedies outlined above.
In hindsight, I really wish I hadnt bought the MG, I am impressed with the car itself but the experience is marred by MGUK and the dealer. I wont be having another MG in a couple of years time, I will be heading to Tesla, Kia or Hyundai.

A further update:

I received a phone call from the group service manager, he said they were having a dreadful time with MGUK and the only way they would consider confirming to me in writing that my warranty was still good is that my car is serviced again with all points covered on the service schedule.

My car is going back to them before Christmas for the work to be done.
It really confirms my fears that if I hadn't challenged this and there was a warranty claim in the next 21 months, MG may well have refused it.

Be very careful out there boys and girls, they're a slippery lot and you really need to keep a close eye on the details.

It's a disgrace that you put your car in, in good faith, to be serviced, You've done everything correctly and this situation still happened.
A service plan is supposed to give peace of mind not massive hassle

Yes I would definitely get it in writing from MG UK . as your car will be over it's service schedule mileage or months, and they have said they will honour that ? Please double check because any manufacturer will try and get out of warranty if vehicle hasn't been serviced to its schedule time etc .👍

Like an insurance company any old excuse

Aye, right from the start I have said I want either:-

1) I want in writing from MG confirmation that my warranty has not been compromised in any way.

or, If MG cant or wont confirm this

2) The garage take the car back, settle all of the finance with no detriment to me or my record, return 50% of the deposit I paid and return all of the maintenance payment's from the end of year 1. All of this based on it going wrong from the end of year 2.

I wont settle for anything less and these are the only two options as far as I'm concerned.

Well this ridiculous situation is still ongoing.

I took the car back to the dealer before Christmas, they did a full service as per MG schedule and also did a recall apparently. I waited for written confirmation from MG UK with regards to the warranty and have heard nothing. I contacted the service manager again who told me he's having difficulty getting MG to uphold their side of the agreement.

I'm now giving them 14 days to either get the letter from MG or take the car back refunding pro rata my deposit, the service contract costs and settling the finance with no detriment to me or my credit rating.

It seems MG is a dreadful company to deal with and to a point the garage has my sympathies but one thing for sure, I'm not going to lose out here.

What a farce. They're not doing themselves any favours are they.

I trust you have made it clear to MG, via the dealership presumably, that this whole sorry saga is being made public via this forum? If not, maybe that will make them think a bit more.

I, for one, didn't end up getting an MG4 as a direct result of multiple threads on here about the dealership network and warranty issues - so it does have a direct impact on MGUK's bottom line.

I cannot understand why MG are like that on this matter.
One of their own dealerships messed up; it is not like you went on a random garage so what are they afraid of?
Have you tried contacting the HQ in China? I have found out that it works....with BYD at least...

Agree, it's a total farce, what's happening to John. And really hope he, gets it sorted, to his satisfaction.
But I'm the opposite, I too read multiple threads about, the poor Dealers, very poor MG UK and the warranty issues. And I do feel for those it effects. But I bought an X Power anyway. And it's been bloody great. No problems at all. Not had any dealings with the dealers, apart from initial purchase and 1st service. Which also had no problems. S'pose I've been fortunate, with mine.
🙂👍

You buy a ticket and take your chances as they say.

We had nothing but hassle and arguements for about 15-16 months as did many others at the wife's work who were given the 4's as company cars.
As I've said the company are going elsewhere because of it and that was over 20 cars they had.

They have absolutely lost any future custom from me.

I haven't made it clear to them yet due to potential legal action from me.

And so it goes on.........

One thing for sure, don't expect anything helpful from MGUK to avoid disappointment.

I was very happy with the car, the service contract, the warranty, gap insurance, finance etc and through no fault of my own end up in this dreadful situation.

Me neither, I firmly believe a salesman can sell one car, service and support sell subsequent ones.

From what i have seen, MGUK dealer support is awful, why anyone would want to represent MG I dont know.

Have you tried contacting the HQ in China? I have found out that it works....with BYD at least...
No because essentially my contract is with the dealer and they seemingly have had the rug pulled from under them.

Yep, John. I won't hold my breath, if God forbid, owt goes wrong, with mine.
Although Chorley MG, do seem to be ok.
But as said, it's MG UK, that's mostly at fault.
Hopefully, I'll never need to find out. 🤞🙂👍

From my experience when we were rejecting my wife's car the dealer was trying to be helpful and did all the right moves for the process to start.
BYD UK was stalling and were not green lighting the process.
The moment emails went to BYD China; I don't know if it was coincidence but the rejection got approved and a new car was ordered.
