I think you should also consider getting your finance company involved. Technically it is their car and they can apply pressure to MG too.
Wouldn't be like MG to try and kick the can down the road a bit
Here's my thought...
IMHO, "Potentially" is not "no", hence it must be taken as being "yes" in the context of your question.
The way I would best extrapolate that ambiguous response is that the warranty "may have been compromised depending on the nature of the fault that is subject to the warranty but that is something that we would address down the line if/when a fault arises".
