"I'm in a bit of a fix at the moment"

What you tend to find with large organisations is they put lots of "policy" in place to prevent employees agreeing to things that would cost them money. But if you contact the right manager they will run roughshod over any policy to do the right thing.

So many examples of this with Stellios in the Airline TV show, agent would tell customer company policy and why something could not happen then Stellios would stroll into shot and to make himself and EasyJet look good override any policy to placate the customer.

As with most things you just have to find the right person with enough authority to see common sense and do the right thing.

I never found that person with MG UK, the second dealer we used after bining the first (as they couldn't have been less helpful) tried to be helpful but were blocked by MG

Youre probably right and it may well work with MGUK but frankly, I cant be bothered, I wont be losing out because I will simply start legal proceedings against the dealer where my contract is. In the worse case scenario they take the car back and I then purchase my Kia or Tesla depending which bargains are around at the time.

Well at long last I have the letter from MG UK confirming my warranty is still valid.

Phew, that took some doing, I wont be in any hurry to have another MG after this one, roll on August 2027, it can go back then.

Thank you to everyone who offered advice / sympathy etc, it was appreciated but a valuable lesson to all of just how wrong this can so so easily.

Definitely enough to warrant MG losing your custom
I was looking around September time last year to purchase 4 x MG4 for my IT business engineers. Then all of this kicked off so I'm looking elsewhere, Tesla are certainly chasing the business market even though were only a small business. Ford used to be really goo, they had a dept for business users, if you wanted to try a vehicle, they would deliver what you wanted and leave it with you for 2 weeks. We purchase 12 vehicles from Ford as a result of this service. I'm just waiting to see what Kia, Hyundai and VW offer before deciding where we go.

I don't want to influence in any way, shape or form but for business purposes I would recommend Tesla.
Purely down to the fact that there is no middle man, very light requirements service wise, expertise since they are down to two models and if your guys travel around a lot superchargers.

MG have certainly lost a lot of customers off this forum, which is a shame. Not really because of the cars, as such. But because the way MG, have treated them.
But unfortunately it won't affect MG at all.
That's why they really don't give a Shit. 🤬
🙄🙁

MG or Saic Motors? I think the MG brand will suffer, but Saic motors?

What brands does SAIC own?

SAIC operates joint ventures with Volkswagen and General Motors while also developing its own brands such as MG, Roewe, MAXUS, IM Motors, and Wuling/Baojun. SAIC acquired LDV (formerly Leyland DAF Vans) in 2010, when it began manufacturing commercial vehicles under the MAXUS name.

Backed by the party, they won't fold, but the party does have a rather heavy hand when it comes to poor performing people within their party owned concerns ..... I believe the family even has to pay for the bullet ......
That, you would think, should be enough to wake up those who are likely to face the finger pointing when the MG label suffers compared to other brand labels owned by non party based concerns .......

My gut feeling is that Tesla Model 3 will be the weapon of choice. Engineers dont travel far, within 40 miles of our base so range isnt really a problem and its a bit of a reward to my guys. Tesla do put on a good show for sure, I had the pleasure of driving a model Y performance around major UK cities for 12 weeks a couple of years ago doing an environmental survey. Great car, well impressed. I had to take it for a minor warranty job, the loan car was programmed to accept my key, absolutely joined up thinking with Tesla.
