Given that the original MG4 went through a couple of refreshes (one of which entailed an entirely different software branch, which in itself still causes issues when people talk about "What's the latest software ....."), why do we need a new sub-board for the 2026 refresh?

And why does the Urban have its own entire new board?

The Urban is a new model built on a completely different platform to the rest of the MG4 range so fully justifies its own sub-forum.

…and the 2026 MG4 is reported to be quite different inside, potentially with different software.
If this is the case then it could be quite confusing having discussions about completely different operating system systems in the ‘MG4’ as you described. Let’s avoid that this time.
If this isn’t the case, then it won’t be a problem to merge the two forums back into one.

I don't know the best way to arrange the forums but as you say we can try and find out, just to remind people that merging separate forums is far easier than the reverse, so this decision makes sense to me.

It should certainly continue on the new MG4, not sure about the Urban, don't see why not.

Technically IM is a new brand and so they haven't dropped anything as they are independent of MG.

They’ll probably do what they did with the outgoing model and change the APR to a higher rate when dealer discounts are applied.

Yes the RRP of the 2026 MG4 Premium extended range 74kWh is £1000 less than I paid for my 2023 MG4 Trophy 64kWh 3 years ago.

This new budget 4 should just have been named MG Urban and ditched the 4 to save confusion. After reading the various tests, most say you're better off paying the extra and buying the current model which handles better with the rear motor and superior rear suspension.

The MG Urban will be absolutely perfect for some folk. Who are not bothered about handling better or being faster.
MG have just got more fingers in the pie.

For sure, but us Xpower persons have no interest in going slower around corners or even in a straight line for that matter. I would sooner go for a used Xpower myself, which I'm told are worth peanuts now, mine is less than 2 years old with less than 4000 on the clock and Motorway told me it's worth 17,200! But I still think the urban should not have the label "4" - just bloody confusing to all and sundry.
