Hi all
New to the forum and 2nd newbie post. I am due to receive my long range S5 trophy on 26 Jan in blue and I am an Octopus customer in the UK but not on a EV tarrif yet. I contacted them to fit a Hypervolt pro charger and was told 8 to 12 weeks which is crazy. I only decided I was getting a new car on Saturday as the S5 on affinity was a no brainer.
Anyway, I am looking at alternative installers for the charger but my question relates to Intelligent Octopus Go tarrif and charging. For it to work with hypervolt, Am I correct in thinking that you schedule the charging via the Octopus app or is it the Hypervolt app or the in car scheduling? I have seen videos where you tell the app you want your car at 80% by 6am and it works out a schedule.
My normal shifts mean I would be home at 1030pm 3 or 4 days a week with a 50 mile return each day so would I need to plug in even if I have enough range? do people keep their EV topped up all the time or let the range drop and then charge?
On the days I am off I mostly do short trips and again do I keep it plugged in for IOG to determine a schedule. I mean its cheap electricity but no free for EV charging right?
thanks
