Just got my license and I want to buy a used MG4 Trophy any advice?

Excellent! Enjoy your new motor. And when it's nice and clean. Post some pics, please. 🙂👍
a small pebble got flicked into the windshield on the way home so I have to get that fixed but other than that I'm loving it so far.

Great news !!! .... enjoy 😊 ... and do stay around on here and get loads of good tips/advice/mod ideas👍

What year model and colour did you go for out of interest ?
2023 73 plate with 5k miles in black

Re the Auto/Manual debate. I believe that a new driver passing the UK driving test in an MG4 will only hold a licence to drive an automatic (transmission or gearbox) car and not one requiring manual gear change. Thus, to all intents and purposes, the MG4 is an automatic car.

Totally agree. 🙂👍

Bad luck with the windscreen chip 🥺. I got a small chip in my windscreen too early on. I think it’s best to get it filled in professionally and get an invoice. Then you can show it has been filled professionally (and date stamped) so when you eventually sell the car you have all the paperwork 👍

Dads insurance????? :sneaky: Just kidding. With my first car , I was driving along when a car in the opposite direction lost their circular hinged fuel cap cover. This bounced along the road towards me and appeared to be heading straight for the windscreen. Don't know how , but the last bounce made it jump over the car and miss completely, can still see it now! Brown it was, not unlike.......:poop:

Nice car for your first.
Well done.

The description Auto/Manual really has no meaning for these cars. That is because they are terms derived from the Gearbox, which does not exist.

Being a person who despises Auto Transmissions I realised that they have more in common with manual cars. However they do not need a clutch but they don’t change gear on you. As said earlier they don’t even have a reverse gear.

The similarity to an Auto is the direction selection, the designators and the pedal layout.

I still despise automatic cars but do like my XPower.

I was a bit the same, but new autos are a lot different to the old. My 2018 Holden has 9 gears and the changes are imperceptible, it changes down without any prompting, the drive experience is only slightly inferior to the MG4. The things I like least about it is the torque steer, and the turbo lag.

Technically speaking, the car does have a gearbox. It is a single-speed reduction gear that provides the final drive to the wheels. We learned a whole lot about this during Oil-leakGate in the early days of the MG4.

What we seem to have learned here is that arguing over the meaning of the word "auto" is much more compelling than the main topic! 😆

And just to add more to the debate what about Taycans that have a 2 gear transmission
