Both battery types are fine. I not going into any debate about the pros or cons of each type. They are both used in numerous EV's. It really comes down to what you want the car to deliver re cost, range and features to be honest.

By the way it is ‘standard range’, not short. Some folks are particular about that (not me, have a LR on order).

The Facebook "MG owners and fans group" is quite active and regularly had dealers posting spare stock. Looks like one or two are now talking about stuff to come (as if it was already here) but most are upfront.
