I have now had my MG HS PHEV for 1 month and wanted to give a quick review to help anyone who is interested.
I have completed 846 miles since collection when I had a full tank of petrol tank and full battery. I completed 80 miles HEV on collection day, and 2 longer round trips of 150 miles and 200 miles where I use HEV at the start and just EV as I get closer to home, if EV runs out the car seamlessly changes to HEV. All other shorter trips are just EV. I have just filled up with petrol and added 31.33L (£39.76), I charge the battery every 2 – 3 days overnight and have used 185.9kWh (7.5p per kWh + 5%vat = £14.64), I now have a full petrol tank and full battery. My calculation is that each mile is costing just over 6.4p, I feel that this month is fairly typical for me with just a few longer trips and many local trips, I’m estimating 10,000 miles per year. My previous Audi A4 estate (diesel mild hybrid) was costing just over 12p per mile plus I had the ‘luxury’ additional car tax of £425 per year or 4.25p per mile for my 10,000 miles.
The car has performed amazingly just 1 minor intermittent issue with the Bluetooth phone car microphone where I can hear the other person but they don’t hear me. At pickup I asked about the MG Pilot driver attention monitor as this had been an issue during my test drive and was told that there had been a software update, the attention monitor has not told me off once. I still disable the speed warning for longer trips as this is a bit too sensitive but as this is at the top of the menu selection it is very easy.
I hope that this helps someone who is considering getting an MG HS PHEV.
