You all are in for a big surprise.I got my IM6 last July, There were some teething problems at first, but all is well now. I think that this being a new car, especially in Thailand, that much of the infrastructure was not completed. No one at the dealership knew much about the car in order to instruct me a little. In addition, the owner’s manual is pretty much content free. It’s about 80% what you can’t do, 15%what you can do, and 2% how to do it. The remainder is just garbage. All that said, I love the car. It’s comfortable, very quiet, and a veritable rocket. Some real surprises, an e-Sim with a 5 year subscription allows internet access as well as a hot spot for your phone to use. The LKA (lane keeping assistance) Pilot system is very close to self driving, very close! Impressive! The dash is devoid of any switchgear, everything is done through the two touchscreens. There are only five buttons, a door latch release on each armrest, and a door lock/unlock on the driver’s door. The only mechanical release I can find is the frunck. The incredible array of settings is impressive though a bit intimidating at first. I appreciate the fact that all of the variables are available, even if most of them are set-and-forget. For compare, it cost £32K, the cheap one. Enjoy folks and join the IM6 forum if you get one.
Not sure which dealership you got yours at but we picked up ours and the dealer is still pretty clueless. Although the bow and flowers were nice... :/ Coming from our Tesla Model 3, the screen interface is not a big learning curve with the IM6 getting major props for the ability to customize it. Elsewhere, meh, not so much. This is definitely a Chinese designed car and that steepens the knowledge hill you have to climb. I'm sure it will be much easier once I figure out where everything is hidden. The Tesla was a no brainer - plug and play - the keys just worked, the phone keys just worked, you walk up to the car and drive away. The IM6 is a bit tougher. We still haven't been able to get the phone key to work automatically. And what's this nonsense about only one phone key? But the car is a hoot to drive. They claim 0 - 100 in 6.9. I think that's pessimistic.

I think one of the biggest flaws compared to tesla is the keyless entry. With a smart lock on the house and tesla keyless I can just walk into the car/house/etc with only my phone and I don't even need to take it out of my pocket. No need for keys/fobs etc.

A big point for the model Y is the boot. Its so easy to get large objects in, compared to the boot on the model 3 and pretty much every other car out there.

The biggest point in teslas favour ( for those that do longer trips ) is the seamless charging experience.

There's a lot to like and the big sticking points are solvable.

I think my biggest hangup is that china just got a facelift on the im6 that gives it the zero gravity chairs and better suspension, while we're getting the pre-facelift version. So the facelift version is quite a bit better and will be coming out next autumn ?

A very interesting car with some advanced features - if only the dealership service can match it!

Regular service shouldn’t be a problem. A new cabin air filter yearly, new brake fluid every two years, and coolant flush every four years. No more waiting four hours for an oil change every six months. I love it!

There is always something ‘better’ coming out next year…...

Probably true. But if thought like that, you'd never get owt. 🤷‍♂️

There is always something ‘better’ coming out next year…...

Totally agree, so what do you, wait for that. Then next year you could say, better not get that, coz there might be a better one next year.
So on, and so forth. 🙄🤪

What needs shorting now is insurance....
I don't know if MG can do something about this but at the moment it is almost impossible to get a quote and when one gets generated it is bonkers..
New car in the market syndrome.

MG IM6 - A Smart Electric SUV with Style and Substance
Overview and Lineage

The MG IM6 is a fully electric compact SUV developed by IM Motors, MG’s premium EV sub-brand under SAIC Motor. It shares the same platform and technology as the IM5 executive saloon, but wraps it in a taller, more SUV-friendly body. The IM6 brings MG's design forward with a focus on practicality, tech, and modern style.

Design and Trim Variants
The IM6 is offered in multiple trims to suit different driving needs:
  • Standard Range - Rear wheel drive, 75 kWh battery, approximately 217 kW (295 PS), 450 Nm torque. WLTP range is around 300 miles, with 0-62 mph in about 6.9 seconds.
  • Long Range - Rear wheel drive, 100 kWh battery, approximately 300 kW (408 PS), 500 Nm torque. WLTP range is around 440 miles, with 0-62 mph in about 5 seconds.
  • Performance - Dual motor all wheel drive, 100 kWh battery, around 553 kW (742 PS), 802 Nm torque. 0-62 mph in around 3.3 seconds. WLTP range is around 355 miles.
All trims benefit from an 800 volt architecture and ultra fast DC charging capability (10-80 percent in around 17 minutes). The interior features a sweeping 26.3 inch panoramic display, supported by a 10.5 inch centre touch screen. High quality materials, generous headroom, and a flexible boot make the IM6 well suited to families and tech-oriented buyers.

Launch and Availability
The IM6 debuted alongside the IM5 at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and has since been made available in key markets including the UK, Europe, China, and India. UK pricing starts at approximately 38,950 GBP for the Standard Range, about 43,495 GBP for the Long Range, and around 47,495 GBP for the Performance trim. These prices position the IM6 competitively against other premium electric SUVs, offering compelling range and performance.

Reviews and Customer Impressions
Automotive reviewers have praised its commanding presence, advanced styling, and feature rich cabin. While some driving dynamics reviewers noted it lacks the agility of traditional petrol SUVs, its comfort, technology, and swift acceleration are strong selling points. Owners report that it delivers excellent value and daily usability, applauding the long range, fast charging, and spacious interior.

Summary
The MG IM6 extends MG’s EV lineup into the compact SUV segment with flair. With a choice of range, performance, and price, it caters to a wide audience. It blends smart tech, generous space, and strong performance, and stakes MG’s claim in the electric compact SUV market with a modern, family-friendly offering.

Hi Stuart, is it possible to update the post as there are a number of factual errors for us UK folks. In the launch and availability section the prices are all incorrect and you list the standard version that we don't get in the UK and no mention of the launch edition. In the summary section
🔋 MG IM6 UK Trim Levels & Key Features you confuse all of the versions. 1. Premium doesn't exist in the UK, our base car is the long range so this needs to be deleted. 2. you have this down as the platinum but the stats underneath that are for the long range but the price shown is for the performance, not sure why for all the models you list km ranges for the UK. The long range is 388 miles and performance and launch editions are 313 miles. 3. Launch Edition and what should be 2. Performance editions are the same with the exception that the launch edition has Air Suspension. Hope you don't mind me saying.

Every 3 months. (I think) 🙂👍
Does anyone know if they do actually change? That said, I see if you create a quote o MG Affinity and put it in your ‘showroom’ it is then valid for 30 days. So it seems you could do that and then wait until the new details after 30 Sep to see which is better…….

Bjorn''s figures work out at just under 200 miles on the 120kmh (74mph) test
And 260 miles on the 90kmh (56 mph)

Obviously mentions it was about 4/5° c when he tested which has been the same as my morning commute this week.

I saw an IM6 this evening stumbling back from the local pub (where I watched the mighty Forest play their first European match for a few decades).

I don't usually have three pints of an evening, and Pebbles insisted I didn't go up and drunkenly talk to the people who had pulled into their driveway.

Anyway, I can confirm that there are IM cars on the streets of Oxfordshire.

Could be a salesperson from the local dealership, taking the car as their daily driver for a week or two to learn it before going out on demo drives with potential customers.

That would be a novel idea, a salesperson actually being knowledgeable about the EVs they are selling😉

I understand that the MG dealer in Eastbourne has an IM6 LR in and ready to purchase…..
