If the German authorities decide the car is not allowed to be used, there is damage.
It is similar to a case where each car manufacturer has to state a car functions according EU 2021/646. This regulation contains the demands for an EU type-approval of vehicles with regard to their emergency lane-keeping systems.
If a car does not comply with this regulation, type approval could be rejected or withdrawn. That car is no longer allowed on the European roads.

Back in the real world, some with issues in their lives (such as isolation, terrible childhood etc) will try anything to get 'attention', paricularly 'challenging' a large organisation or someone 'famous# or in the media regularly. It's just another version of stalking. Even more wasted time of these individuals lives while the rest if the world won't even notice and moves on.

Good point. MG will collapse, I'm quaking in my boots. Been there, done that in the software industry, came across lots of self proclaimed 'gurus' who were always trying to find problems in any software they could get their hands on. I made mistakes employing some of yjem and then had to promptly fire them. Meanwhile, most just used the software as best they could and spent most of their time enjoying real life rather than staring at a screen 15 hours a day trying to find a rock to throw at someone

I mean, if VW group (and others) survived diesel gate, I'm sure SAIC/MG will survive this. Wouldn't be the first time a Chinese company "liberates" some designs or parts of other companies. And whatever it costs, the Chinese government would most likely bail out SAIC, maybe just not publicly.
