The MG ZS EV is a fully electric compact SUV from MG Motor, a British marque now owned by SAIC Motor, a Chinese automotive giant. It was first introduced in 2019 as MG’s first all-electric vehicle and quickly became one of the most affordable and popular EVs in the UK and other global markets.First Generation (2019–2021)
Launched in China in 2018 before reaching the UK and Europe in 2019, the first-generation MG ZS EV featured a 44.5 kWh battery, offering a 163-mile WLTP range, and a 141 bhp electric motor driving the front wheels. It was praised for its affordability, practicality, and generous equipment levels, making EV ownership more accessible.Facelift & Long-Range Model (2021–2025)

The MGS5 showcases MG’s latest design language with a modern, aerodynamic profile, split LED headlights, and a sleek rear taillight bar. The MGS5 will be available in three trims:- SE: 49.1 kWh battery, 211 miles (WLTP) range
- SE Long Range: 64 kWh battery, 298 miles (WLTP) range
- Trophy Long Range: 64 kWh battery, 288 miles (WLTP) range (includes additional premium features)
Market Launch
The MGS5 EV debuted in China in October 2024, with sales beginning in November. It is expected to launch in Europe and other international markets, including Thailand, in March 2025.With its longer range, modern design, and advanced technology, the MGS5 is set to replace the ZS EV as MG’s next-generation electric SUV, continuing the brand’s success in the EV market.
