MG ZS missing V2L function

For me, the proof of the pudding was simply to buy an adapter or cable and test the V2L live. Certainly the adapters are cheap enough (Amazon). Mine (Portugal 2023 ZS EV Lux) V2L worked and was subsequently very useful in a widespread power cut!
The problem to me is, if I buy one and it doesn't work, is it the adapter or the EVCC?

The EVCC on the ZS EV is located on the N/S ( passengers side ) of the car.
If you first look towards the rear of the 12 volt battery, then look down at the chassis rail, then you will see the unit bolted to that rail.
You should be able to check the part number.
We had one of the early ZS EV Gen2 models and it came with the capability to conduct V2L and it worked from day 1.
However, it would only allow discharge to continue, with the car unlocked.
As soon as you locked the car, it stopped discharging instantly.
This was corrected by a software update at the point of the first service by the lads at Chorley 👍.
The later models had the update applied I believe.
The majority of ZS EV’s that failed to perform V2L had the wrong EVCC fitted at the factory and this was corrected FOC by SOME dealers, others wanted paying for it !.

I made my own cable, as I wanted the full 7kw worth.
In desparation I connected a resistance decade box on and dial throiugh the values. From about 200R up to 2700R the car reported that it was connected to a charger. Didn't ever see a V2L cable.
Have borrowed an official MG lead. Same results.

The EVCC module is mounted under the 12V batt. You can see it if you look down the right hand side of the battery (as looking into the 'engine' bay.
The module part numbers are listed on other threads.

I asked a local dealership to check it back in June (not where I brought the car) and they said they V2L was not an option on my car. And when I challenged it, mumbled about possible mis-selling.
So I wonder if this is something where MG deleted it, but didn't update the literature ??
I do remember seeing V2L as I was researching the purchase. And the installed manual on the car details it.

I do need to contact the selling dealer. Just life has gotten in the way.

Thanks, found it and can confirm my car has a non-working EVCC.

Now for conversation with the dealer
:)

Can I suggest that when you approach the dealer, you just ask them to check WHY your V2L facility does not appear to be functioning ?.
Also make it clear that the V2L feature played a BIG part in WHY you chose the MG model that you did.
It is fairly clear WHY your V2L is not working correctly, but as you don't have a V2L cable to check it 100% then THEY need to do their own checks and let them report back tbh.
It is very likely that their checks will discover that the car is NOT fitted with the correctly compatible EVCC module, that will allow V2L discharge and then, are likely to raise a ticket with MG CS.
Hopefully MG CS will authorise the dealer to order the necessary, correct EVCC module.
If they refuse to cover the full cost of both the module and the workshop time to configure, then they may offer some other option.
E.G. :- They may offer to supply the module, but ask you to contribute towards the cost of the labour charges ?.
At this point you have to decide how hard you want to contest the decision and how important it is to have the feature working I guess 🤔.

Thanks,

I do have a good relationship with the dealer, and expect them to do the right thing. Spoke to them and gave them a little more information than you suggested.

I did buy an adapter that other ZS EV users have confirmed works for them, and tried it - and got the expected message.

Awaiting callback from the dealer.
