MG4 12v connection, when is it active?

Just wondering at what point power starts drawing from the 12v connection. Does anyone know?

I just plugged a dashcam in and not sure if it is just while moving or is it when not in park etc.

I worked out the issue. It comes on when you initiate a drive. However mine was not working. Turns out the connection is not in the horizontal position so my perfectly aligned horizontal adapter was not aligned for charging.

Not it is positioned vertically and working perfectly.

FYI if anyway gets no power from 12v. Give it a twist!
