Yes, the range is the reason I bought the ER, and it's great to do my frequent trips between Derbyshire and Kent (just under 200 miles nearly all motorways) without having to worry about charging, even in cold weather. The acceleration is much more than I need, though, and Sport mode never gets used, in fact l nearly always drive in Eco.I'm probably irrationally biassed against the Trophy trim, but I like the spartan layout and lack of fuss in the SE. But the really long range of the ER and its faster acceleration sound like nice things to have.
I ordered my brand new Orange ER in July 2024. Could have taken delivery in August, but opted to wait till September to get a 74 plate. It turned out to be a year old when I got it, manufactured in September 2023.Happened to be in our local MG dealer today and noticed they had an Orange MG4 ER in their showroom.
Out of curiosity I opened the glovebox and found the CoC.
Their brand new unregistered MG4 ER was made on the 30.04.2023!
I got made redundant in Jun 2023 and had a notion to buy an MG4 X-Power and had asked in the same dealer if they had an XR available for test drive, they didn't but they had a Orange one due any day, I wonder if that is the car mentioned above.
As I never heard from them again I always assumed someone had bought it, perhaps I was wrong.
Always seems to me that dealers are too arrogant for their own good, would they be more proactive if it were their own money they had lying about a showroom.
The only issue was software, as it came with versions that had been superseded more than once. I had to complain to the dealer to get it brought up to date.
Recently had the SCO77 update as well, which has completely fixed LKA.
Oddly, a relative called me yesterday to ask about my car, as he had just taken a new MG4 Trophy for a test drive. The dealer told him the only options were SE or Trophy, Standard or Long Range. No mention of the ER.Hi Folks, I'm actually an MG5 owner taking an S5 for a spin shortly, and I was asking the dealer the likelyhood that there will be an XR version of the S5, as it's based on the MG4? I got caught out last time buying the MG5 SR and then they launched the LR version 3 weeks later!
Anywho, he said it didn't seem likely, as the MG4XR had been discontinued. It's still listed on the MG website, so does anyone else know about this?
