MG4 Frunk now available

PS warranty wise I will just remove it whenever it’s goes to the garage. Hopefully only for a yearly service
:)

Do you not store your tyre pressure pump under your boot?
It’s not the one that came with the car it’s another one I have. Much prefer it.

I am more worried about the struts as I would use the frunk regularly so would want them if I was going to use it.
I don’t think the struts would invalidate any warranty. They install into holes already in the car, and are technically removable (it would be hard to then put them back in, but that has to do with access to the nut inside the bonnet)

I think he mean the frunk itself. There is a theory it changes airflow etc and could be an excuse to void warranty.

The verdict from MG Australia is that this does not impinge on warranty.

Am glad that Brexit is working out so well for those in the UK. May Nigel do well so he can complete the job.

Ah I didn't try it as mine had already shipped. If you are thinking of getting one, send them a message; they seem good on responding.

Mine is due to arrive today. Not bad considering I ordered it 27 Oct.

It looks like the discount is either already applied or can't be applied.

Could be.

Mine has arrived. I was not charged any import duty. £161 including delivery. Including a small bag gummy bears lol maybe for Halloween.

Looks easy enough to install but will have to wait until the weekend.

Considering its coming to £157 for me in the UK too on some kind of discount either the discount auto applies and you got it too or it doesn't let you apply it. Shame really as if it was 20% off like £160 I prob would get it.

I recently got one from evaccessoriesireland and It works great! It has a nice deep cylindrical well that is perfect for a coiled type2/granny charger. It even fits a full sized umbrella, really a lot bigger than it looks! A couple of downsides I've noticed though:
  • if you're using the original metal stand to hold the bonnet open, the lip of the frunk is higher than the original plastic cover, so the stand has to bow a little to clip back into the original clips. Thinking of adding washers as 'risers' to solve this, or getting the hydraulic struts, since the frunk was designed with those in mind (cutouts for where the struts go).
  • the frunk seems to make a little noise when you start driving, it's held in completely by the original clips and I think there's a little play. I suspect adding a thin rubber or felt sheet to where it rests on the metal beam might help, I'll also try this out soon too.

Despite this, the quality is solid and I love it. It's a great addition, and at a good price when on sale (:

They should still be having their black friday sale right now if anyone's interested.

UPDATE - I added a little fabric flannel tape to the front lip of the frunk, where it sits on the metal beam, and the noise while driving has completely gone.

Looking at your photo, it looks like you've the new design with cut out corners to take the after-market gas struts. ;)
This model wasn’t available when I wanted a frunk, (I'd already fitted the gas struts) so I went to the Austrian company Frunk.at for mine. It was more expensive, but worth it to me, at the time.

I have seen and replied to a bunch of Frunk threads, never thought I'd actually consider getting one as they are fairly expensive however, after my insurance said it's fine I am now considering one as a little Christmas present for myself. I have been looking at the Frunk.at ones as they seem to be the best value/most space however I don't think the Black Friday deal applies to the MG4 frunks as they already are on sale. Anyone know anything about this? I have contacted them to check but I have not had a reply yet. If anyone has any better recommendations I would appreciate that too.

The thing I preferred with the ev accessories Ireland frunk for the MG4 is that it makes more use of the space below the frunk. So your charging cable sits upright in a deep pocket so to speak.

I would also recommend getting some gas struts for the bonnet, makes accessing the frunk more convenient
