MG4 - How do I turn it off..?

There is a full power off as mentioned above, go to vehicle/ safety/ power off. Exited car, drl off car still open, everything shut down. Sit on drivers seat and press brake pedal to wake up again.

The person above (if you’re quoting the person I am) is talking about the pull down menu, not the multiple click option you a referring to.

This is what I've got - screen off but not all off (unless I'm missing something obvious)
Don’t think you are as I have same.

Yes that refers to the swipe down screen off only, i am referring to how to turn the car fully off to sit in it, wait , offload etc without lights etc on.

As I mooted earlier, my version of that screen has a red coloured button but I can't remember exactly what it says. I'll try to remember to check next time I'm in the car.

That's what I use if I feel the need to "Finish with engines"
As I admitted a day or two back to @MG Clive technically that is actually the answer! It does in fact power everything off. (Except the radio...oddly).

Stopped at the outlaws yesterday to retrieve the dog and got out, wasn't going to go in but the FIL wanted help with a power tool. Next thing I have been inside for half an hour and the radio and headlights are still happily doing their thing lighting up the neighbourhood. It really is aggravating.

Interested in what @siteguru is saying, I am going to do a few down swipes though I think mine only brings up (down?) the aircon menu, and the off button there is the off button to the aircon. Will give it a fiddle.

Swipe down to one side of the AC menu to get the other menu

Popped into the car and had a few swipes, swiped up and down and left and right, one finger, two finger...multiple taps.

There are definitely two screens. Drag down from the top middle:

And drag down from either side from the top down you get a handy shortcut menu...but no power button for me.

Sorry, but I really don't follow. Why didn't you just lock the car, everything then goes
off. I really don't see the problem. 🤷‍♂️ 🤔

Don't be sorry...I'll try to explain.

I stopped the car, with an expectation of not being long. Now, in a normal, sensible, driver-centric car (you know, like the tens of millions already out there?) I would have turned the car off. And exited the car. Like a normal person.

However, since you and MG collectively feel that turning my car off for any reason other than wanting to store it safely for the winter, means I had no choice but to hop out leaving the car 'on'. I did this with the expectation that I was going to be seconds, or maybe minutes.

Having walked further than the range of the keys, (and lets remember I would have turned it off had I been given this choice) to the front door, I was invited inside.

I spent a little while inside and couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness that my little car had been desperately lighting up the neighbours drive and the radio entertaining passers by, until I got back.

I would have been quite happy to simply turn it off, and leave it unlocked. Its a lovely neighbourhood you see. But you feel I should be forced to lock it, and then unlock it again when I did not want to lock it, and unlock it.

I hope this explains it. I can try again with pictures but I am afraid you'll need to be patient with me until the next time I visit the outlaws.

EDIT: Important to add, my girlfriend had the keys in her bag, she got out first. So the handy 'just press a fob' option was removed.

Devil's Advocate ... you could have locked it using the app. ;)
I laughed...don't you start! (Pun?)
No look I both respect and appreciate that @salty appears to interpret my observations as a direct assault on his sensibilities. I have no desire to meet at dawn at 20 paces over this. I do think given that I appear to be enjoying (broadly) acknowledgement, even acceptance by pretty much everyone else around this, its possibly something that MG might add at some point in the future.

The fact is, there is already an off button hidden 4 strokes in. So that in and of itself is an acknowledgement by MG that an off function IS something people want. Or why bother at all. Simply putting it even one menu level higher would be lovely.

Ok. 🙂👍 I'm just off in a Dark room, for half an hour. With a damp tea towel on me head. 🤪

I think you'll find that the decisions was with @salty , MG just had to go along with it... 😉
In his defence he argues very passionately on their behalf I can't fault it!

But none of my annoyance is directed at him. Its a great car. I like it. I want to keep it. I want to be able to turn it off without having to submit a retinal scan and 90 days of bank statements and maybe someone from MG (Or @salty can you have a word?) will pick this up.

Yep, and if they followed what Hyundai does and push messages you a few minutes after leaving car unlocked I’m sure this issue wouldn’t be as much of an issue.
All the sweet baby cheeses, I really don't need anyone else sending me messages. And I know if I've left the car unlocked, I can hear the radio... ;-)

Why do you not just power the car down as i described earlier as you knew, takes seconds.
If it is dark you can kill the main lights on the toggle on the stalk or as mentioned just lock car and unlock again to access it as it will not power on until brake pedal pressed.

The model 3 had a few quirks i did not like way more annoying than powering off and there was no work around for them, at least you can achieve what you want with the MG, imho their software is a godsend.
