MG4
I bought my MG4 four months ago and was actually quite happy with the speaker system (I have the version with six speakers). But I decided to see what was possible in terms of upgrading the system.

I was looking for something truly plug-and-play and came across Speakercity – a German car hi-fi shop. They sell full kits for all kinds of vehicles, but perhaps the most interesting one is the kit specifically made for the MG4.

The kit comes with everything you need: from speakers to a custom-made subwoofer (specifically designed to fit the MG4 and look completely OEM), 3D-printed adapters, a pre-programmed controller, and plug-and-play wiring harnesses. It even includes all the materials needed for sound dampening.

You can find the kit here: MG4 Electric Soundsysteme

The result is absolutely stunning!

Looks very impressive and no doubt sounds awesome. But to be honest, I'm more than happy with the sound system in my X Power, sounds great. You say that's plug an play, that still looks way to complcated to me. But each to their own. 🙂👍
It looks a little rough because you need to remove some panels here and there to run the harness, but other than just being annoying, it's fine. During the removal process, I found out that the MG4 is a very simple car and great to service, because most of the panels are just clipped in. Also, nothing is coded to the car, so you can unplug things from the main computer while the 12V battery is still connected, and it doesn’t throw any errors like most modern cars. The difference in sound is like night and day, but I totally get that this kind of upgrade isn't for everybody. The shop also offers an installation service for the kit (costs an extra 450 Euros – which is quite fair in my opinion).

This is very interesting setup..
I have se lr, and installed backup camera, and camera is connected to main computer, can i connect the speakers too? And can i connect rear speakers because SE have only 4 speakers.. what do you think?

Depends on how you connect the cam. My installation uses a custom harness — it works like an Y-cable: You unplug the two cables from the main computer, then insert the Y-cable in between. It connects to the controller (which powers all of the speakers) and then goes back into the two cables you just unplugged.
The Y-cable connects to the grey and light greenish connectors.

So if your cam doesn't connect to the green and grey connector I don't see a reason why it shouldn't work.

The problem with the rear speakers is that there are none in the SE. As far as I know, there's also no cable to plug them in, so if you want to retrofit them, you would need to run a completely new harness.

The kit that I have installed only swaps the front four speakers and adds a sub. The ones in the rear are not touched mechanically (only the programmed controller slightly changes the sound of them), but the kit should also work with the 4-speaker setup.

Looks nice, so circa 2K Euro for front speaks, DSP and SUB?....did it include replacement rear speaks?

No, the rear speakers stay stock but believe me the system has more than enough punch in it if you feed it with some proper quality sound file.

The DSP comes preprogrammed, so the rear speakers in trophy models only are there to give more room to the sound. The DSP changes the way the rear speakers are controlled and also gives them more power. So overall the front speakers play the biggest role.

Package also includes dampening material for the doors.

I've recently upgraded the tweeters in my Excite 51 with the ones from MGTitan, they made a huge difference.
But I noticed that they came with an adapter for crossing over the cabling.

I have just bought "Pioneer A-Series Plus TS-A1681F 6.5” 4-Way Speakers (Pair) – 350W" to replace the front door speakers, do I need to "cross over" the cabling for these as well?

My Poverty pack 51 doesn't have rear speakers, what speakers would you recommend to go with this upgrade? Also, the steering wheel is on the wrong side in the photo, so the glovebox in mine is where the steering column is in your model, will that make a difference to installing the system?

I'm deaf as a post, so all my sound files are on my phone and play directly into my AUD11,000 hearing aids, but my wife really enjoys the 10 speaker JBL sound system in the iTech Gen 2 Prius .... and I have to admit, I've turned it up enough to hear everything I can hear in the Prius a few times ..... even with the windows up, I get looks from people as I drive through town ..... and I doubt it's my good looks or flash car that's causing that :ROFLMAO:

First: My steering wheel is on the correct side 😉

So I think the kit should fit with no issues as the cables are long enough. Don't know where the 12v battery sits in UK models (driver/passenger side) but if it's in the same place as mine so for your right hand drive cars it would be the passenger side - it's even more easy as you can directly connect it without going through the middle tunnel.

The sound is very natural so if your audio sounds like crap or the mix is terrible you will clearly notice that. But as you have access to the DSP you can change the curve or just ask the seller to do so if you prefer a more Bose way of sounding.

For rear speakers it's difficult because there is no harness in the back as far as I know so you would have to retro fit that but as they are just used to give it more room I think your are fine by just recycling the front door speakers.

I'm guess the big speaker in the rear hatch area is the sub woofer, that isn't standard in the up spec models is it?

Yes

Yes it is - Higher trims have 4 mid bases and 2 tweeters and the Standart models just 2 mid bases and 2 tweeters - so no sub at all
