MG4 Problems

We have recently purchased a 73 reg MG4 Trophy and we are having a few issues. It is the first time we have had so many features on a car so it could be us but any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. Satnav - When we use the satnav it will appear OK and the location of our car is correctly located on the map but within minutes of driving the car location will jump to random locations on the map (In a pond, in a field, in a house....). Currently we cannot use the Sat-Nav.
2. Weather - When I click on the weather app on the main display I assume it should display the weather for the area the car is located by default but instead it says "Location unknown" or words to that affect. If I manually select my town it works but the next time I get in the car it has lost the location again.
3. I-smart - I have the I-Smart software installed on an Android phone and I am able to bind the car to I-Smart however when I try to use it the car is not detected and it says it cannot locate the car (even when I am sat in it)
4. I-smart - Myself, wife and daughter (Wife and daughter are using IOS version of Ismart) all drive the MG4 so we have all installed I-Smart on our mobile phones but it appears that only 1 person can be bound to the car so is it only possible for 1 person to interact with the car (None of us can currently Interact with the car because of problem listed 3 above)

Every iSmart application likely needs its own account, then you can add secondary accounts with permanent tokens.

We have each registered our own account and I bound my account to the car. When my wife later tried to bind her Ismart account to the car it said that "MG4 was already bound to another account and this account would have to be unbound before she could bind".

Is it possible for 3 people using their own smartphone to use Ismart features with the car?

No you don't bind a second account to the car. On the iSmart app, there is a secondary account section where you add the second and third accounts to the primary account.

Faults 1 and 2 are probably related in that the car isn't getting a clear satellite position. Does this happen wherever the car is or only at a particular location?

Hi,

Faults 1 & 2 seem to apply no matter where I am so unless the satellite cover is very poor in Northern England?

Fault 4 - I will get my wife to add me and my daughter as additional accounts and she will have the primary account. Unfortunately she still cannot interact with the car even when she is the only account holder and she is bound to the car.

I am taking the car back to the dealership next Thursday to see if they can fix any of the issues.
I have read lots of posts about updating the software and/or maps but would you recommend doing this or wait to see what the garage has to say?

If the car is already bound to an account (on your Android phone?) then your wife won't be able to bind it to her account. (At least not without the master account unbinding first).

Basically, whichever account already has the car bound to it, THAT account needs to add the other accounts as additionally allowed.

I unbound my account and my wife was able to bind her account to the car. The car is visible in the Ismart App but nothing works and it says unable to connect.

Have you tried tapping on the 2nd from bottom-left icon to scan the car?

Hi,
I am not bound to the car at the moment but if you mean the icon I have circled in the screenshot below I have tried this and it tries to connect to the car and then after 30 seconds says "Unable to connect". We get the same result no matter where we are located and no matter which one of us tries to connect.

You need to jump that hoop before you can use the app.

That is indeed the scan icon that Siteguru was talking about. But first you need the binding.

I should have added that I did try this multiple times when I was bound to the car and it still did not connect. My wife has also tried when she was bound to the car on her phone and also my daughter and it did not connect for any of us with the same message "Unable to connect"

The top of the centre screen should give an indication of signal strength for the SIM in the car (as well as your phone signal strength if connected via bluetooth). The car SIM is how you get things like weather data.
