When I first looked at the MG4 there was discussion about over the air updates but it was not working at that time. Has there been any change to this?
No change, and not likely either at the minute I’m afraidWhen I first looked at the MG4 there was discussion about over the air updates but it was not working at that time. Has there been any change to this?
Don't forget you get free AA cover with the dealer servicing, that's worth £130 a year.I've been swithering about a service plan. I can't see there's much if anything to do to the car that my local garage can't do, but the availability of software updates was what was making me hesitate. I think I'll go right on hesitating for now.
How odd. Mind you I had to remind my dealer to give me the AA details, they forgot to mention it. I only knew because of this forum. He kept saying to me, "what are you going to do if you break down?" in the sort of slightly patronising manner that made me think he was trying to sell me something. I replied (two or three times) "what I always do, call the RAC." This was his big chance to say, but you have AA membership with this car, you should cancel that. And then explain any genuine benefits. He didn't.
What this AA membership with the car? My dealership knew nothing about the car, didn’t even know about the iSMART appHow odd. Mind you I had to remind my dealer to give me the AA details, they forgot to mention it. I only knew because of this forum.
It's called MG assist and renews each year you have the car serviced at an MG dealer. What this AA membership with the car? My deal knew nothing about the car, didn’t even know about the iSMART app
That’s cool, so I got 2 years free service so I should get the membership, save me £80 in November. Do you need to register anywhere for it?It's called MG assist and renews each year you have the car serviced at an MG dealer.
Interesting question ... I made sure with my dealer that their service plan would also renew MG Assist (which they confirmed in writing), but I don't recall receiving anything specific regarding it.Do you need to register anywhere for it?
When I asked he said I need to read the manualMy dealer did talk about MG assist and showed me the button, but he didn't explain the mechanics of how you'd get rescued if you pressed it. He didn't mention the AA.
He did know about the app, and paired my phone to the car, though!
If you mean the SOS button that is not to call MG assist. That is for emergency situations only like if you have a serious accident and need help due to injury etc. You should have a card with the assist number on and all new cars should be automatically registered for one year. Then each time you get a service you request another year's membership. My dealer did talk about MG assist and showed me the button, but he didn't explain the mechanics of how you'd get rescued if you pressed it. I asked them to check the tray after reading comments on here so that it was on record that I had raised the issue in case of future failure. Likewise with the a/c, it was not noisy at all and certainly not audible inside the car but if the chirping is a precursor to future failure it is now on record.Did you ask for this as you found a dip / warping on the tray ?
How noisy was your arcon? mine knocks away so loud I can hear it inside the car.
Warping under tray and rattling aircon are both manufacturing (aircon) and material (under tray) failures to me as per the warranty which states:
"Guarantees repair replacement or adjustment, free of charge, by an Authorised Repairer, of any part which fails during the warranty period, as a result of a manufacturing or material defect."
