MG4 Software updates

I Understand they are bringing out a revamped MG4 next year and believe it will basically be the same model but much improved. If that is the case and they use the original software with updates, is it likely those updates be available to older models?
Judging by previous updates (like one pedal drive) it is highly unlikely that any new upgrades will be retro applied to earlier models.

I think it will be the same software that the S5 uses together with the larger screen. If so the processors in our 4s won't be able to cope.

This is what I have heard, it will feature an upgraded interior similar to the MGS5 with the larger infotainment screen and additional buttons.

The infotainment runs on different hardware to the existing MG4 and so does the driver's display, which is also revamped.

There will be zero chance of a retrofit of some / all to existing MG4s. MG has never done this as far as I am aware.

As I understand things:
  • 2025: MG4 interior refresh, think MG4 exterior with MGS5 interior.
  • 2026: New MG4 with new exterior, presumably as per the new Chinese version that has been launched this year.

I do wonder if someone could figure out how to retrofit chinese mg4 screen from their models.

To my understanding, some of their models got a bigger ~13" screen and different looking software.

Any Aussies here with an 2023 Excite 51 ? Just wondering what MPU software version you are running. Had my first service (2yr) today and my MPU is still showing R05. Would've thought after 2 years there should have been multiple updates to this version by now.

Not sure if anyone can help, I updated the wrong software, my software was r33 1300, I ended up installing the r33 1100, now I've lost my 360 cameras, sat navigation, voice control, weather and online services, so my system has no longer got the system info where you need to go for a usb update, could anyone help to try and correct this problem so that I can install usb software some other way.

Thanks Dave

The update files need to be in a specific folder structure ... as your software is now the SE version I believe you'd need to put the Trophy update files in an SE folder layout so that the car would see them.

I think the layouts are described either earlier in this thread or in one of the other (long-running) software threads.

Thank you for your help, I have managed to fix this problem and update my software.

For anyone else with the same problem, here is what I had to do.

1. Download the 1300r63, unzip file to a usb stick.
2. move the usb_updated file out of the original folder and place it at the root.
3. Go to the phone app on the radio and key in a code (##4479#*).
4. Pick the first option on the screen (AVN-SOC) and update.

Hopefully this can help other members
