Edit: replies came in while I was typing.

No you can’t coast like the ID.3Your reply was to your own question though?…
MG4 Trophy Coasting
My ID.3 allowed me to switch from brake regenerate to normal, therefore I could coast, saving power use. I can’t see how to coast the MG4, only on Low regenerate? Can anyone help, can you coast?www.mgevs.com

Would you ever pass your driving test if you did some coasting---- no, would the boys in blue like it if you caused an accident while coasting, don't think so !!!Why would MG not make a coasting mode available? It gives a higher efficiency and you can relax your foot now and then.
How on earth does coasting cause accidents??Would you ever pass your driving test if you did some coasting---- no, would the boys in blue like it if you caused an accident while coasting, don't think so !!!
But the idea is that you don't have to use the pedal all the time while in the city for an example. With the ZS you can use regen 3 and the accelarator pedal to accelerate, coast and brake. You can adjust the level simply by position of the accelarator. If you want to coast just adjust pedal to 0 or 1 regen. I rarely use the brakes to de-celarate other than when I need to stop fully. It doesnt take long to get used to it. I believe the MG4 is the same on max regen. Give it a try next time you are out and about.

You completely dont understand the meaning of coasting, look it up in the dictionary. This is a fundamental point.
It’s not coasting if you’re having to press the throttle to a point where the car is in a neutral state (neither accelerating or slowing down)
Coasting is your foot completely off the throttle and still moving forward (only tyre friction/wind/gravity slowing you down eventually)
It’s effectively like being in neutral in a manual car, except you can instantly get power again at any point.
I love it, I’m a 7 year veteran of EVs and cannot be bothered with one-pedal driving at all.
Thank you for the vindication of my previous post?![]()

Drivers face £1k fines for 'coasting' in cars in misguided attempt to save fuel
Drivers can be disqualified if they are involved in a crash while 'coasting' - the practice of driving a car in neutral or with the clutch pressed down in a bid to 'save fuel'www.mirror.co.uk

I agree here, Ev coasting is neither of those, we can press the pedal if we need power. The points for me are 1. I don't have to have my food on that pedal all the time in the city. 2. I can drive and use less power while driving, regen is not 1-1 some of the kinetic energy you have to build up accelerating, is lost while regen, simply because the system is not 100% efficient. 3. If you want to talk about safety, we can do that too. If you are regen you use some of your tire grip on that, but by Ev coasting you are nok, so you have more grip to avoid situations, that's just a simple fact.“The practice of driving a car in neutral or with the clutch pressed down”
Irrelevant, people like me who use the least (zero) regen braking option are doing neither.
So it’s not a vindication of your point at all.
