Will the car charge if there is less than 1.4 kW available?

I have seen a comment on another website that some other brands of car have a low power AC charge setting. The person mentioned theirs will still charge even as low as 600W.

I have solar PV and want to use as much of this as I can.

We are very happy with our new car - not done many miles yet but switching to BEV motoring has been easy to get used to. Still lots to learn though.

I think I am probably misunderstanding but my solar runs into an inverter which changes the DC to AC and sends it into the grid.

So I if charge when I have excess solar it just effectively takes less out of the grid: the car still charges at the same rate.

It doesn't matter if I am not producing enough to fulfil the car's requirement.

I suppose if you are off-grid it might be different.

EVs in general start charging at 1.4kW. With Zappi I can set a percentage green, say 70% so it would charge with 1kw.

You can only usually charge at a lower rate once they exceed 99% to fill up.
