MG5 solar charging stops when battery not full

I've just received my MG5 trophy and have Zappi charger. I was charging using solar energy only and battery on car reached 61% when charging stopped and said syatem is full.
I disconnected car and reconnected and charging continued.
Any ideas as to why it would have stopped and said syatem full?
This is my first EV so totally new to this

Make sure you have disabled the charging schedule/limit on the car, if that’s OK then I suspect an issue on the Zappi side, check if it’s running on the latest SW version.

@Jomarkh made a good point to use tariffs to your advantage.

Quite - I can't see the point financially in charging from solar if you get a decent export rate.

The MG5 charging software is pants and doesn't play nicely with the Zappi. Generally speaking, setting a longer stop/start time on the Zappi helps but sometimes you just need to switch it to stop in the Myenergi app for a couple of minutes then back to eco+. It's really annoying if you want to charge from solar. One owner was trying to reject their car because of the issue.

Ultimately, though, it's better to switch to metered exports at 15p and charge overnight at 7.5p. That's what most of us have done.

Not experienced this was a Zappi and a PFL so suggest it car related.

It's not a Zappi issue. Zappi diverts excess solar to the car by telling the car via the pilot signal how much energy can be taken. The minimum level is 1.4kW which is set by the EVSE standards. If your excess energy drops below 1.4kW because of cloud obstructing the sun, additional house loads etc, Zappi correctly tells the car not to take any power. When spare energy becomes available again, the pilot signal is changed again and the EV informed it can start to take power again. It seems that MG in their wisdom after a certain number of charge / dont charge cycles stop the charge completely and wont resume when power is available. Many people say it doesnt happen to theirs but maybe they havent been charging at a time where the spare energy is hovering around the 1.4kW mark. It does help to reduce the likelyhood of the problem if you adjust the charge delay on the Zappi so that the threshold has to be exceeded or dropped below for 'x' seconds before Zappi will instruct the car to stop / start the charge, the downside is a little bit of grid import / export will take place for those 'x' seconds.

I have had the same issue. I had asumed it was the Zappi but now I also have to consider it being the MG5.

I'm sure I read somewhere if it stops 7 times during a charge the car is programmed to stop the charge in case theres a faulty cable making / breaking the connection.
