Hello I've just taken delivery of a S5 having moved from a ZS. All seems OK at the moment but will take some time to get my head around all of the settings.
My question is what is provided in the way of equipment, I have puncture repair kit, the same as the ZS, a type 2 charging cable but no granny charger is this right?

It is my understanding that the S5 tends to be accompanied with a type 2 charging cable, but no Granny unit.
When I asked the same question to our supplying dealer, the sales manger told me that they have issuing new customers with the type 2 cable, over the Granny lead anymore because they have found that not many customers are using these units anymore.
I already had my own type 2 lead in our previous ZS EV so could I have the Granny unit instead ?.
If not, then I would remove the Granny from the ZS EV on collection day.
They agreed to supply a Granny lead in exchange for the type 2.
Which they did.
Do I intend to use the Granny unit for charging our S5 - NO.
However, having a Granny unit as an emergency back up facility just in case our wall box develops a fault is my strategy.
Also, if we go away for the weekend and the charging infrastructure is poor at the remote destination, then I can use the Granny unit to put some charge into the car.
I guess you have to chose your preference and speak to your dealer.
If they are unwilling to issue you with a Granny unit instead, then it’s not the end of the world as you can purchase them for about the same price of a type 2 cable these days.
Worst case, sell the new type 2 and use the funds to buy a Granny unit ?.

I didn't get one either, but found someone local selling a barely used on on Facebook for £10.

Don't think many dealers give these any more especially as UK infrastructure is starting to get quite strong so charging out and about is getting easier

Granny chargers are very useful though when staying at someone's house to charge or some holiday accommodation that lets you plug into an outside 3 pin plug socket. Paying for what you use of course.

I was told that MG are no-longer supplying granny chargers so I kept the one from my MG4 when I part-exchanged it.

The only time it was used was when a neighbour asked to borrow it as he'd been given a Mercedes EQA 250+ as a company car and his home charger wasn't being fitted for a couple of days.

Since having the Zappi installed the only time I use the granny is to plug the other EV in during Octopus 'free electricity' slots.

Thanks, that's good to know. I am collecting my S5 this lunchtime in PX for my ZSEV so I'll whip out the granny charger along with all my accumulated crap.
Yes if you've got any chargers or cables, definitely keep hold of them. I think this is part of the reason why MG don't supply one now, many people are on their second or third EV by now, so they already have chargers or cables from previous vehicles, or they wisely source something themselves before picking the car up.
