So, I had my first drive in the dark and I have a couple of questions if you can help:
I have set the main dashboard lighting at auto - expecting it to be light through the day & change to dark at night. It’s not happening in my car is stays on light. When you’re driving at night in heavy rain it needs to be dark as the reflection is atrocious. I actually had to pull over, go in to the menu and select dark mode.
Can anyone confirm if it should automatically switch at night if set in auto.

Secondly ( a frivolous question) the mood lighting on the doors only appears to light the front doors and not the rear, is this normal ? In other cars that I have had all four doors had the function.

In any event a goos drive covering some 250 mls ( average speed 60 mph) and achieved 3.3 ( lights and heating on together with windscreen wipers - not all the time but most of it, temp outside 8c - not bad me thinks !!

Pleased to see that efficiency. Strange about the dashboard lighting. Let’s hope another owner can offer some info. I’ll post the issue on the FB page as well.

Someone on the FB group have said theirs works as expected.

Can't comment on the rest but regarding the mood lighting on the doors I am pretty sure there is none at the back doors?

I recall i switched it out of auto and back in auto and it been flawless since. And yes, mood lights only on the front doors of the IM5. IM6 has them in the rear though

Thanks for that, I nipped out tonight and the screen was dark, I’ll have to try it as it’s getting dark to see if it works. Are you sure about the mood lights, I have the im6 and they don’t come on in the back !

I am pretty sure that the IM6 doesn't have mood lights at the back either.
All videos I have seen don't present any lights at the back and I also remember when I took the test drive and had the kids with me they commented on the fact that it is lacking these.

Thanks for that NikLiverpool
I agree, it does seem a little strange that they aren’t fitted to the rear doors ( not that it’s a problem for me as I’m in the front 🤣), strange design fault though.

Yep, would've been nice. Do like Ambient lighting, think it looks great. Modern Mercs, do it very well. 🙂👍
Love the Purple.

Indeed each to their own. As for me I prefer as less light as possible emanating from the car interior when I drive in the dark. I find that it distracts me and sometimes even bothers me when I try to focus on driving.
When I drive my wife's car I tend to turn them off. Reckon will do the same with the IM6.

OK, to clarify the screens for those who don't know yet.

It does switch when on auto, however the implementation is weird to say the least. I think it's a clock based or something or the thresholds are really messed up on the light sensor. It does it when it's already pitch black when driving.

Considering it's winter I've set up mine to dark and just keep it as is.
