New MG5 EV owner - A few simple questions

  1. Am I reading correctly that only one of the 4 usb ports supports data transmission!? Was planning on transferring over my wee usb stick with all my tunes on it from my old car but seems like theres no point if I need that one port for Andriod Auto?
  2. Is there a way to set things like Eco Mode and KERS 3 to run as default? Seems every time I start up the car it reverts back to Comfort and KERS 2. Not a big deal but will get annoying after a while.
  3. How do I stop the radio always playing when I start up the car?
  4. How do I search for new DAB stations?
  5. I'm surprised to see there is no infotainment info in the car manuals, are they somewhere else? (otherwise I could maybe answer some of these questions myself!)

Hi
On the pre facelift you just pressed the silver button in the centre of the volume control for 3 secs and the radio switches off .
Never use the thing so I have not switched it switch it back on
Not sure if the face lifted vesrsion is so advanced ?
 
On my pre facelift MG5 , both front USBs support data transmission . The one on the left is for AA/Carplay , the one on the right will play music on the USB . The USB music comes on when I power the car up , the radio comes on if there's no USB in the port .
Can't see why the facelift would be any different ...but you never know ;)

1. That's what it says in the manual - I agree, it's disappointing
2. No
3. You can't - I've just turned the volume right down so I can't hear it and also pressed mute
4. Can't help you, but see 5
5. There is a manual, but they hide it - it looks like I shouldn't upload it without their permission. You can get it from User manuals

3. Has been covered on another thread, can't find it right now but in the last month or so. I tune the radio to dead space on the am band and I just get a faint hiss of static whilst AA kicks in.
 
Thanks for all the answers above. Not being able to set my own settings to just load up when I start is becoming quite annoying now. Seems like a simple firmware fix? Not being able to use my music USB is also disappointing when the car has 4x usbs ports!

Probably another silly question, but doesnt the car have front parking bleepers? I'm coming extremely close to obstacles and not a sound from the parking assist! Only seems to work on rear and only when very very close.

None on the Pre-Facelift I don't recall seeing them on the spec list of the facelift, that has the 360° camera.

Just a bit confusing as the diagram of the car has 'sections' as if they will light up when close to something but they don't.
 
Also frustrating on the FL 5 is tha fact thhat there's only two rear sensors on the bumper and nothing on the bumper quarters. Reversing at an angle towards an object can be tricky. Most other cars I've had have at least 4 sensors. Might add to the existing ones at some point and maybe some manually switched ones at the front.

I get the feeling the software was produced by someone who doesn't drive or hates cars! So many things where a simple tweak would make the cars so much more user friendly.

Sortware is generally produced by programmers who although on the outside resemble humans, are in fact a different offshoot that developed from neanderthals. It has been my displeasure to interface with many of them over the countless developments I have been involved with. They specialise in taking instructions and specifications and producing the opposite. What seems logical, common sense, intuitive to the normal human race does not register with them on any level.
 
As an ex-programmer (albeit many years ago) don't get me started on users, who usually have no clear idea of what they want until after you've coded them what they specified they want , which is when they realise it wasn't what they wanted after all! :)

I've a fl 5 trophy. If you download the MG ismart app and link it to your car, go to profile on the menu, and you will find a link to manuals. There are 2 manuals, one for the car the other for NAVI which covers the infotainment system
 
I can't think of a single reason why the car doesn't remember the driving mode, kers level, speed limiter settings. Not a single reason! It remembers the temperature and aircon settings, the radio station, the time, the time zone, etc, etc.

If someone could suggest a reason, they qualify for a prize.
