Not so great news for Tesla

Politicians kept banging on about hydrogen in the UK simply because we had little investment in batteries/EVs and they needed to cling to something as an alternative to cover up the fact that they didn't really have a coherent plan.
The main reason politicians banged on about hydrogen was because they were being lobbied by the oil and gas industry, as most hydrogen is produced by steam reformation of methane.

Hydrogen would never really work for planes - the energy density is nowhere near high enough, so a plane would have to carry far more weight in liquid hydrogen than it currently does in Avgas to achieve the same flying times/distances.
I was being generous, but you are right that there are still problems, just as there are with current batteries - although 400-500Wh/kg batteries are now appearing which would make smaller GA planes and light turboprop replacements viable.

You can't fix stupid, but a few layers of good quality packing tape can quieten the noise it makes
About the only thing that is improving of that level, is the level of stupid increases yr on yr ..... they now have the ability to self unlearn

The old engineering term, "You will never make it idiot proof, they just keep making better idiots"
I blame interfering with Darwin's natural evolution theory .... nature had if figured out before we messed with it ..... although we still see "Poo Kickers" flat on the road near the river, they just breed well enough to keep their numbers up ..... but that still comes back to the whole interfering with nature selection, the female wouldn't select a mate if it couldn't provide for her and her off spring .... hand outs for life have interfered with that system .... humans are the only species that can attract a female mate while offering absolutely nothing ....... other species, the female is more selective

Problem is the government has made being a feckless halfwit a career choice, due to the amount of benefits they get for sitting on their arse, the more they reproduce the more money they get!!

People who work rightly tend to just have families they can afford.

We need a purge 😁

They were gaming the system over here for a while, until the money dropped severely after 3 kids, everything they survived on, like alcohol, smokes and poker machines, got taxed big time, renting govt houses became a generational thing, the wait list was so long, the kids were old enough to get their own dole checks, fortunately, most could see the dead end life choice that was and actually went out and got a job, left home so they didn't have to support their parents, and are starting to end the hand out cycle, the others finally either wake up or get phased out by a bad batch of home made crack ..... The good drugs are way outside their price range these days

Back to Tesla, I think the world and the employees finally saw through the false image and started to see the real Elon Musk, using everyone's achievements and claiming them to be his own.
He can no longer talk the talk or walk the walk, too many of the real brains behind Tesla have dumped him and his B/S and gone to work where their contributions are appreciated and rewarded, rather than stolen.

The facts behind the AutoPilot being pulled by the company supplying the software, forcing Tesla to reverse engineer something, then the brains behind that walking away because it was being sold as something that it simply couldn't do, resulting in people dying because they believed Elon's B/S .....

They couldn't sell it as what it really was, every other EV at a fraction of the cost already had it, the govt regulator wouldn't let him get away without accepting responsibility for it's operation, he knew they couldn't afford that, so he pulled it, but offers a subscription service to something unproven, because he needs the numbers to get his financial package .....

All of Elon's hype is starting to come back at him, he can't deliver ...... He simply no longer has the staff with the brains to do it for him .....

If we accept that Tesla and Musk are one and the same these days, it seems Musk has run into problems in France with his AI Grok, or Grot it starting to appear to be these days
Fancy anyone believing Musk could be involved with political manipulation .... what will they come up with next ..... Liar, Fraudster, Con-man, Snake oil salesman and Nazi have already been used ...... I guess there must be more titles he can collect along the way ......

Apparently data came from DVSA regarding highest % of cars failing MOT in 2025 for the UK:

I don't want to add the link since I am not fond of the site; quite anti EV....
Reading further down the most common failure on EVs is tire thread.
I would guess these are company car leases on the 3d year being returned. With owners who don't give a toss about maintenance on them.
No MGs on the list ;)

Think you should be looking at 2022 sales, for MOT's in 2025 - which, presumably, will be lower still.
Yes indeed, which only make it even more surprising to see such a large proportion of EVs failing, but as you said previously, without knowing the reasons for failing, it's not a very useful table.

As said above, most failures are tyre related. Coz obviously EVs are heavier and putting out more torque, than a like for like, ICE vehicle. I can except that.
Although mostly the torque, as there are some bloody heavy ICE cars about.
But can you blame the car, EV or ICE for that matter, if you take it for an MOT with dodgy tyres... 🤷‍♂️🙄🤪

No, you can't, and I would never take a car for MOT with a known failure, but I suppose for some people who don't know much about the maintenance side of cars, the MOT test is an excuse for them not to need to check things themselves.

One of the first things that I bought when I got my first car in the UK was a tyre tread depth gauge.
I use them on both our cars every month. It is shocking that people can't be arsed to check something so simple.

Fully agree on the fact that Tesla's attitude that no service is needed is unacceptable. Yes I know the car will notify if something is wrong but what about aspects like tires, shock absorbers which the car cannot rely on its software to detect a fault.

I think I have mentioned already that with my Model 3 I had 2 costly repairs that could have been avoided if Tesla had proper service checks and not relying on the customer to choose what is to be checked on every service appointment.

To be fair though it never failed MOT.

Must admit I do check the obvious before an MOT. Lights, Wipers, Horn etc. Stuff you can check easily. Also check the Tyres best I can, without taking them off.
Obviously stuff like suspension components etc, you can't really check.
But I do try to minimise the chance of it failing. 🙂👍
