Our first long journey...

When travelling at motorway speeds I am lucky to achieve 2.5 - 3.0 miles per kWh so plan accordingly and also add in a a 50 mile contingency in case the weather requires use of extra systems like demist functions or heaters. The contingency is also in case your planned charging stop has faulty chargers or excessive queues and you need to find an alternative.

I find the best plan for charging stops is little and often, so even on a trip where I could probably get to my destination with a single stop it will usually be faster to plan in 2 stops that will take less overall time (remember the car will charger faster between 10% and 50%).
Dude how fast are you driveing. im on 3.8kw on efficiency.

I got 2.7 miles per kwH yesterday over a 105 mile trip on the A1(M). That's pretty typical for me travelling at just above the vibration speed range 😉. How fast do you drive on motorways to get 3.8 ???

There again Anon70 and I both have Xpowers so that may be the difference.

Yeah, but Cyprus doesn't really have many sections where you can apply the beans, so most driving will be up to about 80 kph (50 mph). :)

Cruise set to 70mph and as JohnnyG mentioned that is the downside of the XPower being a bit heavier with the second motor, but that is the same with the performance model of any ICE car, "Ye canny change the laws of physics, captain"

The xpower has 2 motors. So you are using energy for 2 .Where as the MG4 none xpower has 1 motor and there for only use energy for 1 motor. I drive around 60 mph mostly when i do long distance.Sometimes i hit 65. But mostly 60.

The front motor in the XPower may not be being used, depending on drive mode and throttle position. However the weight of it and related components will still be having an effect. :)

Wrong, lots of deserted roads in the hills and mountains where much of the power can be used. Maybe you, like many, only experienced the tourist areas along the coast.

Me and the missus are heading up to the Lake District for a week away next month, a place we've both wanted to go to for a while.

I know there are plenty of threads discussing longer journeys in the MG4 so please delete if necessary, however some advice would be appreciated.

We are heading off from Milton Keynes and staying just outside of Kendal (Flookburgh), my current plan is to M6 it the whole way.
I was thinking the main charge stop to be at Moto Knutsford (Northbound). Google says it's 135 miles to that service station which is well within my Trophy's range (Maybe I am over cautious because of the motorway miles), and then a second charge stop at Moto Burton-In-Kendal to top up before reaching the Lakes, but then I wonder if I am playing it too conservatively?

Thanks guys,
May not fit in with your plans, but Tebay on the M6 North and South is a great service area, and has several chargers that take cards rather than fiddly apps - I always stop there first when heading North.
