OVO Drive new 5p charge anytime

You need to calculate the 20 hours at peak too. The cap is around 26p so 5p/kwh lower than your peak fixed rate. You're still saving by being on Go for anything more than a couple of hours a week of EV charging.

You're right, sorry I forgot to actually amend the 'Go' rate so both were comparing the cap. Here's the full table adjusted...

Caveat All EV charging is assumed to be completed during the off peak window. The more you charge in the peak window the less savings you make and vice versa.

Note: per year electric (without EV charging) is based on my personal consumption of approx. 6000kw per year.

I have just contacted Octopus (I was moved after the demise of Avro) and they said they would only do me a meter upgrade if I commit to GO.
They wouldn't/couldn't give me the new variable rate from April.

The GO rate for my area is standing charge unchanged at 26/27p and peak at 29.82p off peak as has been said 7.5p. This would be fixed for a year.

Should I do it ? My EV charging requirements are small, 5000 miles, if that, a year currently mostly covered by free supermarket chargers (won't last forever). Current variable all day rate is just under 20p.

Your electric will likely go up to 28p/KWh if you're on variable.

If you charge less than 10 hours per week at home or you have other high power electric appliances you use in the day (shower, induction hob, etc.), probably not worth it. See my table above, hopefully it'll help.

Note octopus just fitted my smart meter, I didn't have to agree to go onto Go to do this, just told them I was considering it once the car arrives. I've waited since November when I first asked them for it but not an issue. I think if you sign up to go they will prioritise you
