Aye it was installed by an OVO engineer on 31st of March this year. OVO gave me a choice and suggested that the OHME tethered unit would be the best unit overall for my requirements. It was only the second time I read Archev's post that I realised that OVO had sold him the charger, only a few weeks ago. That is diabolical. Surely they knew at that stage that they were going to discontinue support for the thing!
I’m sure it was the debit. Thanks that’ll be one of my calls.Unbelievable!
If you paid by credit card, I would invoke Section 75.
If you used your debit card, I would call the bank and request a chargeback.
when I phoned and moaned yesterday the girl said it was only the OHME that was a problem Out of the four or five units they deal with. But hey if they can dump the OHME two months after they recommended, sold and installed onee for me then what do you believe ?My Mother in Law just got her first EV (Mokka-E). She isn't usually an early tech adopter so it shows EVs are going mainstream.
Anyway, she's with OVO so is going to get them to install an EVSE for her.
Are they definitely going to continue to support the one she gets installed?
I think a lot of people are going to be moving to Octopus - don't forget to use a referral code!
I think they are now only offering the choice of Hypervolt and Indra so it sounds like they have dropped lots of chargers from their install list, if you had a wider choice than that.when I phoned and moaned yesterday the girl said it was only the OHME that was a problem Out of the four or five units they deal with. Aye they told me originally about five I think. I was keen on the Hypervolt but went for the OHME sadly.I think they are now only offering the choice of Hypervolt and Indra so it sounds like they have dropped lots of chargers from their install list, if you had a wider choice than that.
One would like to think so, but I suspect that as the Ohme EVSE still acts as a working 'EV supply equipment' you may have an uphill battle.would think he should be able to get his money back under the Consumer Rights Act as he was sold a product which is not fit for purpose.
There is one, but it's virtually unrecognisable:(where is the face-palm emoji?)
In that case then he could claim the product is not as advertised, e.g, not able to make use of OVO's special tariff he was promised. One would like to think so, but I suspect that as the Ohme EVSE still acts as a working 'EV supply equipment' you may have an uphill battle.
Thanks - too late OVO - I’ve gone !Sure, worth a try, especially if the deal was clearly advertised as being linked products - e.g. buy this EVSE to use our CA tariff.
But at the end of the day, the users will have agreed to the CA tariff's T&C's which include.. "9.1 We reserve the right to make changes to Charge Anytime and these Terms at any time including without limitation amending the product, changing the Charge Anytime Credit or Charge Anytime Rate." So, still an uphill battle I'd say from a legal point of view - the best outcome would be for OVO to cave-in and offer their 12,500 affected users an EVSE swap. But that would be ££££ for them.
