Public Charging not starting

Can't understand why you guys don't have solar chargers set up all over the state with all that sunshine.

Politics. The last prime minister famously said that EVs will ruin your weekend, and they'll take away your utes (utility trucks, pickup-trucks). They were very pro-coal too (gotta have that base-load generation to keep the lights on). So one problem is that there isn't enough transmission infrastructure to get power from the bush at the back of Bourke were the sunshine and there is ample space, so the narrow coastal strips where the population and therefore the load is. There isn't even any connection from the eastern states to Western Australia or to the scattered separate networks in the Northern Territory. Yet, a few brave people have driven around the coast of Australia in EVs (it takes a lot of planning and time though). One of those was a converted classic MG!

Edit: that same former prime minister is now in trouble for secretly swearing himself into 5 ministries during the covid crisis, without telling some of the affected ministers. But this could possibly be considered wandering slightly off topic...
