Yup, that charger is then theUpdate
I checked the on board charger label and it says 7.2kw. And also has only 1phase connected from the charge connector. So that pretty much defines it.
A 22kw charger option would have been perfect for me. Shame they didn’t sell it in the UK.
1 phase 32A charger.
The one in ours is
3 phase 16A charger
The charger in your car was also sold here, but mainly in
- All first gen ZS EV
- Cheapest standard range option (Called "MG ZS EV 50 Comfort") here.
Takes an awful lot of time to charge with one of those here, because even though all households have 3 phase power, its usually only 16A, so you only get around 3.6KW per hour.
They can charge faster, but then they have to go to the public "22KW chargers, as they will have 32A per phase".
Typical feed into a house like min (80 years old) has a fuse in the fusebox across from the house of 25A, so even though i could theoretically go higher, it would be risky as the charger is not the only thing needing power and if i charge at 16A, and the dishwasher need to run as well, then it would be well advised to not go above 16A for the car.
And yes, its usually very easy to see if the car has a 1 phase or 3 phase charger, if it is a 1 Phase only, it will be missing the 2 bottom pins in the connector.
When EV's just came to market here, there were a lot of single phase charger cars being sold, so i have many times advised people with little to no experience in EV's to look for this and generally avoid single phase charger cars....Which until recently incidentally meant no nissans (But also no nissan because of the ChaDeMo).
