Hi,

I just had my first MG4 Trophy LR annual service (for £135?) and a few things came up and I am wondering what you guys think about them especially the tyres:

1. Tyre wear ... after 11,400 miles I have 3mm wear on all tyre except driver side front at 4mm. I am not heavy footed so it sounds a little high. How does it compare with you? Also, there is negligible difference between front and rear tyres, why would that be? Would you replace now or wait until 2mm?

2. I am told the front undertray is hanging down but this is not covered by warranty as it will be caused by usage. Does this sound fair? I had the rear undertray fixed when I first got the car.

3. The only other thing I had was a bit of rusting on the rear break pads.

Regards,

Undertray will be tough to prove, essentially you have to evidence that you have never scraped it or had anything hit it that could have damaged it, vs a manufacturing fault or issue with the original fix

I had front undertray damage and had to pay for it. I was lucky in that they were replacing some front suspension bushes under warranty so they didn't charge me for any labour as they had to take the undertray off anyway. The damage was caused when I pulled onto a verge in a narrow lane to let a car through in the opposite direction. Unfortunately there was a rock hidden from view in the undergrowth!

If the undertray is just hanging down as opposed to damaged, it may be that a securing clip needs replacement so not necessarily a big deal.
When you talk about 3/4mm "wear" do you mean that literally or are you saying there is 3/4mm of tread remaining? If the latter, whether this is abnormal will depend on what the tread depth was in the first place. Either way, it does sound a little odd that there would not be more wear on the rear tyres than the front.

3mm tread remaining on the original Chinese Bridgestones from the original 6mm. Mine came with the Chinese version of the T005 in the 235/45/R18 98W size.

I was expecting the rear wear to be significantly greater. I have no idea why it's not and pondered my lack of breaking and reliance on anticipation and regen however regen is on rear axle so I don't think that really helps explain anything.

The undertray is just hanging down I believe but I need to lie down and have a look for myself. I guess a verge could have done it as I live in the country and although I go slowly over speed bumps they are not exactly risk free so I guess it's probably just wear and tear.
