Rapid charging not working

Recently purchased an MG4 ER, less than a year old.

AC charging works no problem but I cannot get rapid charging to work anywhere.

I am following the instructions on the machine. Plug in, pay, start.

But every time I get the same error in the car - "HV Battery Disconnected".

This does not happen for AC charging.

Am I missing something obvious? Like do I need to power down or lock the car or something? Or do I need to take this back to the dealer for a fault?

DC rapid charging should just work (as long as you're following the charger instructions correctly) .. no need to lock the car or anything. In fact you can lock and unlock as you wish without interrupting charging (as opposed to when AC charging). And given that you say anywhere, I assume that means you've tried several chargers at different locations.

Based on the above I'd be getting back to the seller.

Yes, have tried different chargers from different brands, at different locations. I keep getting the same error no matter what about the HV battery.

But when I checked this forum for the HV battery error, everyone else who is getting it is having their car basically fail to start on them and need towed etc. I'm having none of those problems? It just refuses to DC charge, but otherwise the battery seems to be fine.

Have you tried removing the 12v battery -ve lead, leaving it for 30 minutes then reconnecting (making sure all connections are tight)? (You'll need to do the window and steering reset routines - see the Wiki).

Not saying that this will be guaranteed to help, but a lot of issues seem to be resolved using this method.

A recent attempted charge with an Osprey Rapid charger resulted in a switch off of the charger at about 2 minutes in.

The car was occupied and switched on.

So I tried again, switching off the MG4 as soon as I could, and a full 80% charge went through....

My older ZS EV would work well, s]despite me sitting in it and playing the radio etc...

Honestly I'm useless at all that, I wouldn't have a clue and would end up electrocuting myself probably. I'll just get in contact with the dealership, hopefully an easy fix...

It's a 10mm spanner job .. you disconnect the (black) -ve lead to avoid "electrocuting" yourself.
