Rear View Mirror Removal

Does anyone know how to remove a rear view mirror for a mg5? I'd like to replace mine with one higher up and less broad. Many thanks.

Hi, is it the MG5 SR that you have? It should be just stuck on.

On the Exclusive pfl it's connected to power for the auto dimming thingy.

Thanks for the replies. It is a 2021 Mg5 Exclusive EV. I'm not very interested in the auto dimming, and would rather have a less obstructed view.

What I found to improve rear view visibility was to remove the rear middle headrest. I had no problem with the rear view mirror itself

Part of your problem is that behind the mirror is a ***king great box that houses the rain sensors and blocks just as much of your view as the mirror does. I have the same problem and hate having to bend down and peer under it every time I want to turn left.

I removed mine the day I got the car and 4 years later it has never been replaced.

Agreed 100%. I've not measured it exactly but suspect that the positioning of this is designed for LHD. I'm also definitely not as good as getting lined up properly when reverse parking in the MG5 than I used to be and I don't think it's just age...

There is something odd about the MG5, I always had problems getting the damn thing straight when reversing into a car park bay. Whenever I thought it was straight it was way off.

Agreed.
I had to reverse about a quarter of a mile down a country lane last summer and I had to keep straightening back up because I was veering off all the time when I thought I was going straight.
The reverse camera puts me off when parking as the lines are so far off straight. Have to try and ignore it while doing my checks
