My MG4 EV. 2.5 years. Nice to drive. 95% charge attempts successful (kept a diary). Big problem when long trips needed. Last 2 months 30% fail. Good enough? (Parked at garage for 2.5 weeks waiting for appointment)

Has it had any software updates in the last 2.5 years? There were a bunch that came out related to charging and battery management around a year to 18 months ago. You won't receive them normally unless you report a problem to the dealer and they can do updates under warranty.

My car has had a lot of updates, last changed March 2024, not had any charger failures that I can remember since (on chargers that worked for other people - obviously there are broken chargers out there).

Of course it's good enough! I've had mine for 1.5 years, 18000km of which 6400km was my Easter break (I'd say that qualify as long trips) . Most annoying problem was that I turned into a fence post, hard to faulter the car for that.
Oh and Ionity sucks! But any others works the treat

What did they charges fail?
Was it the car, EVSE or the tariff?

Nope. Car won't accept a cable being plugged in. Doesn't matter which.
Can you be more specific about what happens when you plug the cable in?

Is it physically stopped, that is the locking pin may be down and stopping it going in?

Or does the car not recognise that a plug has been inserted and the port lights do not change colour?

Or having plugged in at both ends with a type 2 EVSE or Granny Charger then you cannot start a charge using all the possible start mechanisms?

The first few months were a mare, but since all has been good. Charging good, tyres still good after 19k. Main moan is the infotainment and the fact that the sound keep going quiet and I have to hit the speak button twice to get it back and the LKA. Oh and the automatic lights that seem to come on when it wants.

I get a red battery warning light for the small battery and a yellow warning light for the main battery. Cable won't lock in place.

Agree with @decrep. This is similar to my 12V battery problem (reported in another thread) a year ago; no problems since. Low voltage battery showing 11.8V, would not charge from HV battery (low voltage still showing on driver's screen when car powered up) and HV battery would not charge with AC or DC. Gave the 12V battery with a boost charge without disconnecting and system started working again. Must have triggered the 12V battery charging circuit to work again.

If your problem is intermittent there may be more of an issue but check the tightness of the 12V battery terminals, externally charge the battery and monitor the voltage from the app/driver's screen.
