This post is informative information about Sandicliffe MG, Nottingham.

My brother and his wife are having to take Sandicliffe to court because they bought a brand-new electric MG car, which as far as they are concerned, was a dud with so many problems! They were sold something that wasn't fit for purpose from day one. They bought this car from Sandicliffe MG in Nottingham, and they tried for months to get it sorted.

My brother and his wife have been very reasonable having gone back and forth to Sandicliffe about 20 times. Even though MG car forum’s on the internet openly discuss the problems affecting MG electric cars, Sandicliffe have refused to accept the multiple issues with the car, and this has left my brother and his wife with a car that they have not used for over a year and a half: it is just sat on their drive, as they believe it isn't safe to drive.

They have been trying to sort this with Sandicliffe since they bought it. They have amassed a lot of evidence and now this lengthy and expensive court case is due to be heard this summer at the Nottingham County Court. They are representing themselves, without a lawyer, in court, whilst Sandicliffe has arranged for a barrister to represent them.

If you are considering buying an MG car, a MG electric car or other cars from Sandicliffe, you will be interested in watching for the outcome of this court case. In my opinion, if you buy a brand-new car from Sandicliffe, they have a duty to do the right thing when it is not fit for purpose and not just take your money, run you in circles with their lawyers, to drag it out causing massive stress and sleepless nights.

To the forum. Albeit not in a good way. 🙁
Sorry to hear about your problems
And good luck with your court case.

What was wrong with the car, can you share the claim details?

As the original post is so vague about the issues being complained of, I’m going to close this thread.
The OP can contact any of the mods if he/she wants to make a case for it to be reopened.

Following a discussion with the OP, I'm re-opening this thread :)

So what was wrong with their MG?

I’m glad to hear your family members are taking them to court. I’ve been having issues with my car for nearly two years now, and MG just don’t seem interested. I look forward to hearing the result of the case. Best of luck to them! 👏🏻

Hmmm... so which dealer was that again?

Mine is MG Southampton. I’m going to try MG Portsmouth now, but they’re both part of the same group unfortunately… 😕

LOL - I was joking about the original post. (now edited my posting for clarity!)

There's still no rationale for this, neither the decision to reopen the thread, or to justify the court action in the first place.
All we have is someone saying someone else is taking an MG dealer to court because "issues" and we should feel sympathy for them.
Why?
They haven't even said which electric car.

UPDATE

The electric car is an MG ZS EV Trophy Connect purchased in 2022.

A single, jointly instructed, independent expert was appointed at the order of the court to conduct an examination of the vehicle.

The independent expert, following their investigation, provided their Expert vehicle Inspection Report which stated:

“In view of the short time in ownership and the previous issues identified, I would consider that the vehicle was not of satisfactory quality and/or fit for purpose, notwithstanding issues were identified and rectified by Sandicliffe.”

And further stated:

“I do not agree with the Defendant’s position that there are no defects with the vehicle and/or no safety defects.”

The trial date is 1st July and is going to be heard at Nottingham County Court.

I fail to see the point of your posts. There are no dates and no technical details.

What was wrong with the car. Did it only have 3 wheels? Did the roof leak? Was there a software fault? Did the battery go empty after 15 miles?

What did the dealer do about the reported faults and over what time period? Were software updates performed? Did they attempt to glue a 4th wheel back on? Was a courtesy car provided?

Without any detail, this thread is pointless.

Think we would like to know, exactly what's wrong, with this MG. We know a lot of the faults/foibles/quirks that effect some MGs. But are there any that bad, that you can't use it for 18 months. Would be interesting to know.

In my opinion as there is a court case pending it's difficult for the OP to post any precise details and perhaps this thread should be closed until after the court case.

Yes, I think the OP is sensibly lying doggo, so as not to jeopardise their position.

It will be a bit intimidating fighting this case without representation, but with a report backing them up and the Consumer Rights Act 2015, that should hopefully go a long way to putting them on the road again.

Edited for grammar.
