Saris Bone 3 on Mg4 experience seeking...

Anyone had experience with rear bike rack on their MG4? Spoiler edition?

I just got the car on Monday this week.

And still learning about ev.
I had done extensive research about installing rear bike rack on the MG4 from members here and from the internet before I made my purchase.

I am all ready and I even got the Bone 3 bike rack before getting the car.

Today I took a closer look of the MG4 rear hood especially about the Hook anchor point with the bike rack.


I am shocked to notice the top hood edge where the anchor point is... Is actually the edge of the Plastic Wing.

And I check the whole Top edge area hoping to look for a plastic closer to the metal edge and fail.

I think there might be about 0.5 to 1 cm edge of plastic from the spoiler (refer to the pic).. I am not sure if the same applies to non spoiler MG4. (Should be similar to the gap of the hood, should be the same)

This really concerns me.. If I have to carry 3 bikes.. and it is all hanging on the spoiler edge...

Will I crack the spoiler or.. rip the spoiler off...

Sorry.. I am posting hoping to get some security from experienced users....

Update :

I checked ; spoiler or not. The plastic trim is the same. There is Plastic over the top metal edge.


However, I tested the rack after posted my question .
Seems like even though it is a plastic edge. It is secure or regid enough.

I Just guess, it might not be good for the plastic edge in the long run.

What's work will work I guess.
And other user experience is proof.

I had one of those bike racks once and hated it for the whole 15 minutes it took me to decide to return it.
My belief is that you should get a proper bike rack either roof mounted or tow bar mounted.

And update. Confirmed this worked.
I drove like this for 45min for 4 times and seems like the plastic wing are able to hold up fine.
